I'll be there Wednesday night in Charlotte. Is Cody still being billed from Charlotte ? I know for a time he was in WWE. Making his announcement in his home city seems like a big deal.

Cody has a career announcement he says. Hmm, wonders if it has anything to do with him saying over the summer he doesn't expect to juggle backstage and in ring for too long, maybe a stipulation that'll retire if he loses. There's no way he's retiring right now when he's the top babyface in the company. However, tangentially related to the fact that Brandi isn't going to be with him any more, and thus will not be announced as "Cody with Brandi Rhodes," I have a feeling the announcement may be that he is now going to officially known as "Cody Rhodes."

Career announcement, thinking he may be Cody Rhodes again.
I don't think he's going to retire barring some health problems. Like even if he scaled it back, I feel like that's the kind of thing he wouldn't telegraph before the show, especially without kayfabe motivation, plus he has the MJF stuff that it'd be absurd to just throw away.
Also, it'd be a bit weird to wonder if his retirement would resonate with fans, while the importance of a name change is something you could worry may be lost on fans.

Oh shit that is perfect. After Jericho interrupted the announcement last time he said on twitter it wasn't time sensitive so it works really well.

Yeah, I'm guessing he's going to be announcing he's now Cody Rhodes.

Yeah, I'm guessing he's going to be announcing he's now Cody Rhodes. I'm going to go with he's the fifth guest fighter in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

Hell yeah, glad to see they are attempting to step it up with the Women’s division. Guessing Private Party vs Dark Order and Shida vs Swole are contender’s matches although I could see Sakura pinning Riho and getting a shot that way.

I'm kind of questioning Private Party vs. the Dark Order. Not really sure either should be getting two losses in a row right now.

Seems like at the very least, Swole and Hayter are done deals in terms of signings.
Mercedes Martinez next please!

The women's division looks to be improving now that they've scaled back on Britt Baker's push and adding more non-joshi women to the shows.

Gotta say, the lack of time spent promoting the women's angles on these shows is starting to become a constant for AEW and not in a good way. I know you only got a limited amout of time but if you have the division, use the f***ing division, haha. Yes. This is my household's biggest problem with the show. It's not even that they're booking the women badly. You have to book them to book them badly. Sure, I'd rather they weren't pushing Boring Britt Baker and Bea 'I have proven nothing but I'm big in Japan' Priestley, but if they were on TV at least the division would be. We need more than Riho, and Nyla hasn't shown up on TV since killing Nakazawa. Oh, also, Kenny 'I have proven nothing but I'm big in Japan' Omega is another major problem. I've seen Kenny before. I know he's great. The people I know who only know him from AEW have no reason to consider him as big a deal as he's sold as.

I think WWE is the only company that does the idiotic champion get pinned in non title match to set up title match booking. All the other companies actually protect their champions like your supposed to. I would guess Sakura pins Shanna. They had Sakura go over on the last Dark in a four way so they do seem to be setting her up as the #1 contender. I personally would go with someone else as she doesn't impress me at all but I guess it makes sense with her being Riho's trainer so they have a backstory they can use.

I'm kind of questioning Private Party vs. the Dark Order. Not really sure either should be getting two losses in a row right now. On the other hand, it's the logical match to book as a #1 Contenders match, since they were the two teams that came up short in the semis, and were shown on camera watching the finals intently.

Nice womens division match inclusions since that's what people really wanted to see, and arguably, it's the top of the talents right now
Riho with Shanna who showed a hell of a lot vs Shida, and Sakura and Hayter who are also two really great performers from what I've seen so far, and Sakura's building a resume to be the next challenger for Riho's belt.
And Shida vs Swole could be really good. Swole's great and I'm happy to see her and Hayter seem to be signed (I am also in the MERCEDES NEXT PLEASE boat), so her in a showcase vs Shida should be good. Shida might be used as that piece to get girls over wrestling wise if the Shanna match is anything to go by.
As for not seeing Kong yet, my thoughts are this. I think she needed to get back into wrestling shape, especially if she is going to be wrestling on a consistent basis. Get the rust off, as at DON she definitely looked very sluggish if imposing as always. Her being in the vignette last week is a positive sign. They wanna do Kong vs Kong, they want both ladies to be able to go when they do.

That looks good.
Hikaru vs Big Swole sounds like a lot of fun.
Private Party vs Dark Order to decide who faces SCU at Full Gear it sounds like.
