Recently watching some wrestling with a friend and he was super confused by a spot I’m sure people have seen before. It’s usually in a multiman or comedy Lucha match where everyone in the ring will spin, jump while kicking there legs and then continue the match. I’ve seen it in Chikara and Osaka Pro before. What’s the deal with that spot? And more importantly let’s see some videos or gifs of people doing it.

I know it originated in Michinoku Pro. That’s where CHIKARA took it from. I remember hearing the name for it too but now I can’t remember it. Ugh. That’s not very helpful.

I thought it pre-dated M-Pro... I think I saw it on a UWA Japan show I have on DVD. Gran Hanada ran the promotion, bringing the Lucha style to Japan. The company had Sasuke and Ultimo Dragon before they started their masked gimmicks... also had early Gedo and Jado (as Bulldog KC and something else). I'll check later when I get home from work...

I remember the UWA in Mexico using Great Sasuke and Super Delfin in different gimmicks. I don’t remember seeing that spot from there. I only had one tape of matches from that promotion though. Let us know if you find anything. I wish I could remember the name of that spot but my mind blanked out on it.

It’s such a modern kind of spot. It blows my mind how far it goes back.

I feel like I need to see a video to understand this.

This is fascinating. I don't understand it at all.
I mean I get Chikara and some of the other companies doing it because it is a Lucha Thing, but I don't understand why it is a Lucha Thing.

I've definitely seen this before, but I couldn't tell you as to why it happens.

Forgot for a few days... dug out and watched my copy of the UWA Tag Tournament 1991 tonight. I'm wrong, it's not something that happens in any of the matches, but there's something close when Brazo De Plata (aka. Super Porky) does a jump/spin kick after a few successful moves. Can't find a clip on YouTube of it.

So, I literally just saw reference to this on Reddit and it jogged my memory of this thread.
