I feel for the wrestlers, cause they've got some legitimately good guys under contract (even Taven, as much as we deride him, is fine, he's just not a main event guy). But the company itself is just a disaster at this point. It's incredible just how bad it looks to contrast how things were this time last year to today. It takes a special level of mismanagement and tonedeafness to your consumer base to fall this far so quickly. As one of the few who still watches and enjoys the ROH product I agree with this completely. People always talk about how monumental and quick WCW's collapse was but ROH managed to go from a company record year high to a company low in the course of one year. We all knew there would be growing pains once the Elite guys left the company but holy s*** this is far worse than anybody could have envisioned. And honestly, in January they were making the right moves after AEW was formed and both them and WWE were circling other talents. Like, signing Jeff Cobb, Mark Haskins, Bandido, Dragon Lee, RUSH etc in a time when I’d say a good chunk of them would have been nabbed by bigger companies should have been a sign of a real wider change and recovery from the loss of the Elite. And whilst I don’t think ROH’s MSG portions were that bad...that was the moment more stuff should have been knocked out of the park and it just...didn’t.

There's really nothing funny about the current state of ROH. Yes, we can say that they lost the various Elite guys and SCU. But ROH has lost a lot of talent in the past and has generated new talent. However, at that point there weren't so many companies on TV. ROH could develop talent on its own without much interference. There's just no real "there" there in ROH at this point.

I think WWE mostly does house shows as a morale thing, mostly because pretty much everyone who's spoke on the subject has gone, "Yeah, house shows are a blast but doing TV is awful." Yea, house shows are where the wrestlers get to have fun and cut loose a little more but not as much
