At this point I expect wrestlers to blast fans for tweeting their favourite Ben and Jerry's flavour.

It really can feel like, if you have an ounce of self respect, you shouldn’t give this company one bit of your time/money. They sure don’t seem to value their fans/viewers at all. It’s hard to imagine there’s another fanbase that’s told they’re wrong/stupid on such a regular basis.

If what Meltzer is writing about you is utter bullshit why wouldn't you just ignore it? Responding gives it more weight. You have to take control of any narrative involving you. So, if someone is reporting something that you feel might damage your standing in some way, you have to respond. Public Relations 101.

I'm sure these wrestlers get untold amounts of heated garbage hurled at them constantly and that they hate it. But this whole 'wrestlers aren't taking it anymore, they're standing up for themselves' experiment has so far just had them lash out at ultra tame softball shit that makes the way they conflate the twitter hate mobs with any unhappy fans way the f*** more insulting

AJ seems to think that the whole universe revolves around WWE. I'll put that down to too much time with flat earthers.

I don't know why, but there's something kind of darkly humorous about the whole thing.
Fans : "Hey wrestlers, the company you work for books you like shit, and might actually be legitimately evil. We don't really think it's your fault, but we wish maybe you'd speak up about it."
WWE talent, who are indicated to be miserable being part of that company : "SHUT UP, MARKS!"

These types of people may not represent the majority of the fans following you, but they're loud, obnoxious, creepy, angry, or whatever else that just makes the whole situation uncomfortable, exhausting, or ire-raising. Nobody would be upset with AJ if he was putting someone on blast for insulting Mauro or otherwise degrading him. But...that's not what a bunch of this has been lately. It's been fans making relatively innocuous statements and Meltzer just reporting what his sources tell him. I understand getting to a point where you lose patience, but letting those be where you snap? Not a good look. It's like being a teacher who's having a rough day in terms of classroom discipline, but you don't end up getting angry about it or handing out punishments until last period, when you're at your last nerve, and you end up sending a kid who did something relatively harmless to the principal or something. It's a bad look, to put it mildly.

Twitter recommended me a bunch of tweets from random fans calling out people similarly to this for saying they don't like current stuff in pretty vanilla ways and making fun of their follower counts and whatnot, is this what WWE fanbase Twitter is now too? Like #StandUpforWWE stuff? I feel like I'm seeing so much of this lately from wrestlers and fans lol

On Cedric. Was he buried? Maybe, maybe not. Did the short program with AJ elevate him? No.
I'll use the same thing I said about TNA when their wrestlers would defend the company when the low morale stories were at their peak. Not everybody will have the same feeling. For all we know Cedric at this point may actually be loving life because he is on tv consistently and he may not care about how the match went. But that doesnt mean that another featured act on tv like The Revival are happy.
Hell it's fine to defend your employer and try to help the locker room but there is a way to do it without looking bad.

Why would AJ ever talk shit on the WWE? He makes a ton of money and has been at the top of the card basically his entire time in the company, he's been treated very well. There are going to be people who aren't happy, that happens in every job in every walk of life. But this idea some have that the entire roster is pissed, is also very ludicrous. There are plenty of guys who may be booked bad who would say "I'll take my bad booking and this 5 million dollars and I'm more than happy" at the end of the day it's a job.
The only things that are real are the money and the miles and if you take less money to do the same work....you're basically a mark for yourself.

We're saying he attacked a fan who wasn't even being rude.
