Nickelback are not a bad group. They're bland as all hell yes, and feel like the musical equivalent to rice cake, but antipathy towards them is far more of a meme than active dislike.

Frank Sinatra was a terrible singer and talked through his songs far more than he sang.
Nirvana are overrated and inferior to many similar bands of the time.
Barry Manilow is seriously under appreciated as both a writer and performer.

Beethoven
Overtures like that get my... juices flowing. So powerful. But after his openings, to be honest, he does tend to get a little f***ing boring. That's why I stopped!

Beyonce is talented, but she's overrated as all hell and a lot of her lyrics are largely mediocre

By how some people talk Limp Bizkit were completely awful but they have some absolute bangers. Also their cover of Faith by George Michael is great never understood the hate Ed Sheeran is probably my least favourite music artist right now. Unmemorable bland music, awful singing, awkward rapping, terrible look...but yet he’s massive so what do I know. Even my least favourite artists or bands I have at least one song I like but nothing from Ed. While I think Ed Sheeran is way overated ,he has a soothing voice. Which is basically it. The only two songs I like of then are Shape of You and I See Fire. But yeh he ain't that good.

GUNS 'N' ROSES
bland overbloated maudlin
i only like a couple of songs (welcome to the jungle only because it was the theme to the steiner brothers in nwa/wcw, heavens door and live and let die, you could be mine)
ironically i loved DRIVING RAIN from slash and liked his recent album
METALLICA
i like st anger ..... THE SONG! not heard the album i think they were another vanilla band for me i ******* HATE enter sandman but when that song got released i thought "hmm this sounds a bit different" other than the theme for mission impossible 2 i disappear, they really do not interest me
DESPATICO
why?
i also HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE WITH A DEATH WISH PASSION "cheerleader" by some guy, a song so bland it makes guns n' roses sound interesting
THE FAST FOOD ROCKERS
now if you've ever heard of them, please leave YOU CORPORATE SHILLS their "song" called "fast food song" can only be described as blatant advertising, and NEVER should have been released!
JAX JONES > MARSHMELLO
though not by much
JAMES ARTHUR
cannot hold a NOTE to save his life!!!
1986
was the greatest year in pop music in the UK

I don't care if someone writes their own song and plays an instrument. If their songs are wack, their songs are wack.

Pink Floyd, the Doors, and Led Zepplin are the Holy Trinity of Massively Overrated bands.
PINK FLOYD- Everything with Syd Barrett sounded like a kids album full of fairy tales. Everything after Roger Waters took over sounds like Waters whining about his own success (The Wall in particular is whiny garbage). The David Gilmour-lead albums were their most listenable, but only lasted for 2 albums.
LED ZEPPLIN- Robert Plant has one of the most annoying voices in music history, and routinely gives up on lyrics completely in favor of just moaning like a bitch. Jimmy Page is the least deserving "guitar hero" ever, being sloppy like no other. John Bonham and John Paul Jones are every bit as talented as you hear they are, maybe even moreso, but even they couldn't save the music from being an awful, boring slog of bloated nonsense.
THE DOORS- The Kings of Shit. Morrison was a drunken, drugged-out f***head who wrote embarrassing ramblings that he passed as poetry. The rest of the band was basically inconsequential outside of providing droning, boring, overly long soundtracks for their pseudo-intellectual leader to prattle on over. Never wrote a decent song in their careers, and only became legends after Morrison managed to kill himself before the rest of the world saw through them.
Unrelated: Beyonce sucks.

This is definitely an unpopular opinion among hip-hop heads, and if any fans of this particular artist read this, please hold back on the pitchforks and ropes:
I think Tupac Shakur is overrated to a degree.
Now don't get me wrong, I like his music. He was a great artist and had great messages in some of lyrics and poetry. The problem I have is that a lot of people perceive him as a god and the greatest of all-time, like he was hip-hop's version of Jesus. People often lose sight of the fact that he basically initiated beefs over some stuff, like I wonder if had he not started all of these wars with people that he would still be alive. Regarding that part, look, I get that we all get burned in our lives and that puts a strain on trust in people. But people act like he was some kind of role model.
On top of that, he wasn't exactly a lyrical genius. Sure, I know that there's more to it than just having a lot of bars and punchlines, but even when talking about "who is the better rapper" debates and he is mentioned, it's obvious who people will choose.
Then again, I think my issue is the people who overrate him rather than Pac as an artist. Because like I said, Tupac was a genius in his lyrics. He had energy. He had a great message in his work, even though some of his other songs will contradict that. But like I also noted, it's usually the fans who act like he is an unmatchable god that piss me off so much.

We should be careful about the word "overrated" here, because it's kinda meaningless. Like, it's entirely possible for the Beatles or Beyonce or Led Zeppelin to simultaneously be overrated and amazing, because praise for them is so high.
Anyway, thought of another: Bo Diddley was more central to the invention of rock n roll than either Chuck Berry OR Buddy Holly, and there is such a straight line from Bo Diddley to hip-hop, he should be mentioned more as a foundational influence for that, too. No Bo, no modern music.

That's not an unpopular opinion. The dude is pretty much a God if you like metal. Pretty much every time I've brought up Mustaine here there's been a ton of flack for things he has said, or his addictions, or something. Mentioning Mustaine is getting like bringing up Cornette is a thread.

This is definitely an unpopular opinion among hip-hop heads, and if any fans of this particular artist read this, please hold back on the pitchforks and ropes: I think Tupac Shakur is overrated to a degree.I think Tupac was an utterly mediocre rapper, and he looks even worse considering his greatest rival was so much better than he was. Oh, here's another one: NWA was utterly mediocre, too. Cube and especially Dre can be good, but they both did their best work outside of NWA. I listen to Straight Outta Compton, and I'm just like, "God, this is boring; someone put on Ice T."

Nothing Else Matters is pretty much Metallica's worst song. Also, Enter Sandman is played out as f***. I say these things as a hardcore Metallica fan. They're my favorite band. "Nothing Else Matters" is a very weird way to spell "Fuel". -I'll go one further; none of the big 4 thrash bands have made a relevant album since 1992 at the latest. - the selt-titled Suicide Silence album was complete sell-out trash but people are silly for thinking the band somehow wasn't trash even before that. Lowest common denominator garbage band who were NEVER good and just found new ways to be horrible. - I don't think Manowar were ever a joke band and just used it as a screen to protect them from accusations of being misogynistic gatekeeping old men. Everything wrong with so-called "classic" heavy metal. - most symphonic metal is straight gimmicky trash. You can count the good ones on half of one hand (and no, Nightwish isn't one of them). - Djent is one of the worst things to happen to metal. Just a bunch of weird syncopated riffs with no hooks. Not helped by most of the bands playing it turning the genre from an interesting riffing style into radio-friendly pop music-adjacent pandering so quickly we're still not sure if it was ever any good. - Dream Theater is straight up the most boring band to ever become insanely successful.

Beyonce is talented, but she's overrated as all hell and a lot of her lyrics are largely mediocre This has been the hill I've chosen to die on for years now. I've always thought Beyonce was wildly overrated. She's got a hell of a singing voice but I fail to understand why she has this cult-like following, where she's become this amalgamation of Oprah Winfrey, Princess Diana, Aretha Franklin, and Mother Theresa. Her songs are average pop singles at best and if you really dive into the music and lyrics, they're intensely hollow. And my apologies in advance if you incur the wrath of the "Beyhive," like if you (rightly) note how they are no different than #TeamBreezy or Beliebers. Anyway, here are a few of my own unpopular musical opinions that have almost caused fights among friends or co-workers... Bob Dylan suuuuuucks. Just because your singing voice is "iconic" doesn't make it listenable and mumbling out a bunch of incoherent lyrics that make no sense doesn't make them "deep." Fiona Apple's cover of "Across the Universe" is leagues better than The Beatles. And I really like The Beatles' version, so that should be saying something. I'm dating a country music fan and I've had to begrudgingly attend my share of concerts and festivals in recent months and, judging by the crowd sizes at these things, these are wildly popular artists. And I can't comprehend why. Listen to Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, Kenny Chesney, and Keith Urban and tell me you can tell who is who or a single thing that differentiates any of them. I was never a big country music fan growing up, but at least I can respect the likes of Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, and even John Denver. They were each their own person whose songs had individuality. But modern country music is just this amorphous blob of good-looking guys (and girls, don't think I'm forgetting about the factory that churned out carbon copies like Carrie Underwood, Maren Morris, and Kelsea Ballerini) signing about beer, the beach, parties, and break-ups.

I've only liked one Radiohead song - Creep, and they ripped off The Hollies The Air That I Breathe for that
Pink Floyd's The Final Cut is a great album
not sure unpopular or people unaware but Prince is one of the greatest guitarists of all time.

One of the most beloved country songs of all time, heavily praised, whatever, Stand by Your Man is f***ing awful. Beyond just being a really gross song lyrically, it's also just such a miserable, lifeless slog despite how it's apparently supposed to be some inspiring ballad.
In general I think Tammy Wynette was mostly a pretty damn awful performer. I'd say it's probably worst on D-I-V-O-R-C-E, which is pretty much on all sides a stupid joke song, and I've heard it covered that way and sound fine for it, but as she sings it she's delivering it like it's at a funeral, and even as slow and grinding as the song is she's still so mush-mouthed about it that the lyrics still at points turn outright incomprehensible.
