"Okay I'm here to do business and do special things," said Ziggler. "I try not to be the fan. I find out what the business is and I'm like 'Cool this is the moment.' And having that like 'You're the guy to do this." "To set the record straight and give this guy this fantastic match. I'm like, 'Fantastic.' Then they go, 'it's gonna be bell spear' and I go 'Come on.' So I fought all day long, threatened to leave, threatened to leave. Do anything I can do — 'Give me two damn minutes!' And I got a minute, whatever, what are you gonna do?" www.wrestlinginc.com/news/2019/11/dolph-ziggler-reveals-he-almost-quit-wwe-over-original-661981/

“Bell, spear” would’ve been over as hell and would not have made him look any worse than what the match was.
Him being caught off guard makes him look better than his offence being shrugged off.

Seems like the right time of the month for another Dolph "I was gonna quit for reals" Ziggler comment

At this point, I am not sure what else can be said about Dolph and his threats to leave, especially now that options do exist. ROH, Impact, and most likely AEW could find a spot somewhere for Nick Nemeth. It isn't like I am unsympathetic, pretty much his whole career has been in WWE, but if he's really unhappy, he needs to take a chance.
That being said, if this did happened, kinda glad he stuck up for himself. Not like it was anything special, but it could have been lamer.

That being said, if this did happened, kinda glad he stuck up for himself. Not like it was anything special, but it could have been lamer. I am also glad he did stand up for himself, especially considering most people would have been happy with just "bell, spear" and taken the pay for the night. On the other hand, I don't know, stuff like this always comes off like he wants to put forward this image of him being rebellious or someone who is pushing forward against the odds and it doesn't remotely seem true at all. Like, even during the first time he was threatening to leave, ROH and TNA were in much better places, PWG was both a star-maker and a (for the most part) successful place of re-invention, the UK scene was growing with Rev Pro and PROGRESS starting to heat up and even WrestleMania weekend shows would have grabbed him a few solid paydays. So it wasn't like he'd be doing nothing and a good few offers would come his way. But for all his hawking, he signed a new deal. And then when that deal was going to expire and he was telling anyone who'd ask that he could leave, he didn't. Whether it's because the grass is greener or he didn't actually think he'd do well deep down, nobody really knows. The key thing is, it's hard to take him seriously when it's become clear that the company doesn't want to do much with him most likely because he's become damaged goods and a media problem child. Which then makes me question why they let him do interviews at all but that's low on the list of questions to ask WWE right now.

I’m not sure what kind of great match he thought that he was going to give Goldberg, but it shows he kind of doesn’t have a clue.

Please. “Bell, spear” is the only thing that could make me give a crap about a Dilph Zoggler match at this point.

Remember in the 80's when bruno Sammartino came back and defeated macho man for the ic title? Or in the 90's when Jake the Snake won king of the ring over Steve Austin? ....No?
I love legends, but this is why no one today is a star. They put legends, old timers and celebrities over and make their current talent look like shit in the process. And they've been doing it for years.
If dolph is gonna do the job, at least let him hang with a retired star for a little bit.

The way it was booked made him look so much worse though. He got killed of course but then kept whining after the bell and then Goldberg crushed him another 3 times. Just doing "Bell, spear" and then the jackhammer would have buried him less.

I like to believe that Ziggler "threatens" to quit daily over most things. Soon, he'll degenerate into Milton from "Office Space," and start to mumble about people taking his push.
Oops... did I say start?

Just doing "Bell, spear" and then the jackhammer would have buried him less. I'll be honest, that whole thing endured me to him. Just because it puts over the fact he's a cocky heel that doesn't know when to shut up. Hell, if it wasn't for the fact he did it three times, I'd probably would have agreed with you but it just felt like something they could have done more with. ...and then they proceeded to do nothing with it.

Shoutout to Dolph for using what leverage he had. It was a cool setup and it really made Goldberg look far different than I expected. Then the guy went out there and did that post-match gimmick and it entertained me so that was cool.
Just sucks that they didn't follow up.

Maybe I'm missing the allure, but I don't get why WWE feels the need to bring Goldberg back at all, to face anyone, if "bell, spear" is their whole plan.

I wish Ziggler's "glutton for punishment" character had continued. It was hilarious.

Maybe I'm missing the allure, but I don't get why WWE feels the need to bring Goldberg back at all, to face anyone, if "bell, spear" is their whole plan. A) That’s why a lot of him are Goldberg fans. Just show up, wreck some jobber or midcarder, profit. B) Goldberg can still do what made him popular. That makes hima special attraction in their eyes. (Especially since they don’t give a crap about the Dolph’s of the world. C) They love their legends. D) At least the little things with Dolph and Riddle have given us forum fodder. E) His first match with Brock was basically, Bell, 2 spears, jackhammer, finish. Dolph is wayyyyy below Brock on the food chain.
