Seeing the polarizing opinion on Moxley/Omega's match made me think. Is there any other matches that split opinion like this one where some people loved it but others hated it?

Hogan/Andre. If you are the workrate school, you thought it was garbage. If you are the fan reaction school, you thought it was great.

Bret/Owen's cage match. It probably comes from how cage matches have evolved but I've heard a lot of people say it was overrated whereas people who saw it live still think it's the greatest cage match in history.

I remember this happening for Ospreay vs Ricochet from Best of the Super Juniors a couple of years ago. 2017 I think?

Taker vs Foley, hell in a cell.
It's either the pinnacle of what Hell in a Cell should be, or a dumb stunt that should never be attempted again

I don't think theproblem is how they've evolved. Hogan vs. Orndorff and Warrior vs. Rude were both some years before that and were much better matches.

The Iron Man match. That is all. I hated this match for years. Slow, boring, very few spots and no drama. However I watched it again a little while ago and I don't know what changed but I was invested and entertained, and while it did still feel a bit long I think it built nicely. I'll also say Hulk/Andre. The sheer spectacle and crowd of that match completely overshadows workrate.

Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels - Iron Man Match - Wrestlemania XII
I found it deathly boring, as did many people, while some call it a classic.

Taker vs Foley, hell in a cell. It's either the pinnacle of what Hell in a Cell should be, or a dumb stunt that should never be attempted again It's one of those matches that both opinions could be right. On one hand, the drama was great. You had Mick Foley tossed off of the cage and then chokeslammed through it. You add Terry Funk coming out and Taker looking confused, thinking it was over. It was all and still very exciting. On the other side, Foley could have died that night. Seeing him crumble to the mat after Taker punched him, was horrible. Another Mick Foley moment, would be his "I Quit" match against the The Rock at the Royal Rumble. It's not a great technical match, but it pulls you in. Even at the time, the chair shots seemed excessive. Watching the footage from Beyond the Mat, makes it so much worse. His wife and kids are in the front row with The Rock straight-up blasting him in the head with a chair. Someone should have stepped in during the planning stages of this match and put a stop to it.

How do you think the Mankind-Taker Cell match would be viewed if Foley hadn't got knocked (the f***) out by the chair on the chokeslam through the cell spot?
Foley has said the toss off the cell through the table was planned, and while it obviously didn't tickle, Foley said he landed as well as he could have hoped for.
But say they do the chokeslam spot, and Foley just lands on the mat. Again, while he's probably sore and probably concussed, he isn't completely out of it if the chair doesn't whack him in the head/face.
I always wondered what would have happened if the chair wasn't there. I assume they would still do everything else, the thumbtacks and all that, but Foley would get more offense in, and Funk and Taker wouldn't have to stall for time.
Would the match have been a lot better and had some real back and forth, other than two insane spots and a bunch of stalling and Taker having to almost literally carry Foley to the finish?

The blindfold match at WM7.
I think it's utter genius.

The blindfold match at WM7. I think it's utter genius. Me too. My name may reveal my bias though. I think it was a fantastic way to get the crowd involved.

Savage-Warrior at WM7 is sometimes shat upon because people don't like the "flat" ending where Savage gets hit with the final shoulder tackles and then is just a pile of lifeless flesh. That's precisely why I love it. Warrior blasted Savage until he had nothing left.

Cena/Khali Falls Count Anywhere at One Night Stand 2007 was the point where you either understood why Cena was the top dog of the industry or you went one on one, American Strong Style
