Maybe it's me, but if I was a superhero, I'd probably be less like a Batman or Spider-Man and more like a Booster Gold, like, if I was saving people, I'd not only want the credit, I'd be personally offended if anyone had the audacity to pull a J Jonah Jameson with the whole 'Hero is a menace' thing.
Why can't heroes flat out embrace being the center of attention? They're saving the world or saving their city, they're entitled to some type of credit, give them a TV interview, give them some respect, because so often in superhero media, it seems like the city that DC and Marvel heroe's save doesn't appreciate them, look at how New York seems to hate Spiderman.
If the citizens of New York don't appreciate Spiderman, for example, why should he save them?

There certainly are some who do that. There isn't a Batman Museum, but there is a Flash Museum. You mentioned Booster Gold. Guy Gardner loves attention. Tony Stark is THE center of attention in most settings, particularly the MCU.

Spider-Man saves the people of New York because he has basic human decency.
And there are super powered people who like being the center of attention and acting like assholes. They are called super villains.

I don't think Batman is humble. And he does want attention; it's just the negative kind; he wants criminals to be terrified of him. As for how the rest of the public views he seems pretty happy to have an aura of mystery about him.
Spider-man's humility stems from the guilt he feels about Uncle Ben's death. And the love/hate relationship he has with NYC is just part of the "Ol' Parker Luck" trope writers put him through. The character can never catch a break, but he still tries to do the right thing. And remember, most stories that have Jameson or the police or whoever calling Spider-man a menace he does something that proves he's a hero and he wins the crowd over (most famously in the Spider-man 2 train scene).

In Superman’s better stories he embraces his high public stature, but he still maintains an “I’m just doing my job” humility.
It depends on how the characters operate and their personality.

Some people confuse being humble with not wanting attentiion. Humble is having the attention and not acting any different for it.Superman ise definitely Humble. Batman is not humble,he thinks he is the solution for everything.

There would be a lot less humble superheros if Iron Sheikh wasn't walking around and humbling them.

Robert Downey Jr. revived his entire career by playing a superhero who was utterly incapable of humility.

That's Johnny Storm. Blaze is Ghost Rider. In my head canon they're one and the same! Yeah, fixed (sorry got Ghost Rider on the brain since I'm leveling him in Strike Force lol).
