I was going to start a thread about EMTs having low pay, but didn’t think it had enough appeal.
But I’ll start the thread off by mentioning them. They are literally paid to save lives and in most states get around $30,000 per year. With additional certifications they can make more and some even become rich ass doctors, but $30,000 is a criminally low base pay for a job that is a matter of life and death.

Sticking to the theme, nurses.
Staff at sports clubs on minimum wage when the players earn 10s of thousands each a week.

Pack it up, this thread is over. Yep. First thing I thought of. Food service workers. Get treated like shit and verbally abused for minimum wage or less. And you have to pray for even ok tips.

Was going to say teachers, but since I got beaten to it... in the United States, wait staff at restaurants. The whole tipping economy is bullshit when you consider that because of it, wait staff can legally make less than minimum wage. Your livelihood shouldn't have to depend on people volunteering to be decent human beings.

I can tell you from experience that journalists do not make a lot of money.

Zoo keepers is low pay, minimum wage at entry level jobs. Which is ridiculous given the hard work and its quite a skilled job.
I was a zoo keeper/animal trainer for a while. Awful wage.

It should be a crime to treat teachers the way my state(North Carolina) does.

Social workers are way up there in regards to the disparity between the level of pay and the stress of the job.

I worked in the food service for a good while and the wait staff had some rough days and got stiffed more often than I thought. But they also made good money overall.
I agree with EMT though. I worked with a guy at my job who later quit and became an EMT. It's actually a reasonably quick process, but the job is very important nonetheless. I thought they made good money, but I remember complimenting him on making the move up and he was like "I'm actually making less now than I was when we were working together." Which floored me; you would think that people who have to deal with long hours, stressful situations, and like you said life or death situations. And they're making below-average money.
Teachers don't make enough. It's just a broken system that can't find the resources to pay the people for all the extra hours they put in, but can find money for useless bureaucrats.

I absolutely agree about teachers, they should be paid like doctors. Why the f*** do animators need more money though? They are literally being paid to draw, which is most likely their passion. In fact, if anyone is OVERPAID, it's people in the entertainment industry.

Because they work absolute long and hard jobs for little money? regardless of what you think they are some of the most mistreated type of workers. Teaching might be someones passion, that reason is never right to underpay or overwork someone. By that I mean tv/cartoon animators I think movie ones do good money

If animators don't think they make enough money, they can quit and get a normal job like everyone else. They are lucky to be able to work in that field. The difference is, the world NEEDS teachers, it doesn't NEED animation.

Sure I agree they are not essentials. Not the point of the thread Doesnt mean you deserve to be overworked for bad pay because you followed your passion/ something you are good at.
