Why they chose to debut WALTER on a random UK RAW with no build only to have him lose makes absolutely zero sense. Worse than the loss was the presentation. There was no emphasis to make him look like someone who matters. Anybody who dares radiate even a little coolness or interest must have it siphoned off to an act that doesn't need it
EDIT: And I'm not even surprised about this as I read the spoilers ahead of time, but man seeing it made it even worse. You can have someone lose and still make them come off as a big-time player. Can't even enjoy NXT on its own anymore since this angle forces them to interact with the main roster

So someone’s a dweeb or a goober even if they don’t get pinned now? That’s good to know.

I mean, yeah? He and his crew showed up answering a challenge on their side of the pond and lost. Who was that angle supposed to put over? The match wasn't anything special and even if it was great matches don't make for a good angle.

Dio Madden.
Should win the WWE title in his first match.
I'm dead serious. He's the only non-coward on this roster at this rate. Strap a rocket to him now.

At least it's Survivor Series season which is the one time a year dweebs and goobers go head to head.

It’s just... Why are they essentially RUINED FOREVER now? It’s like literally nobody in this company can afford to lose, and it’s impossible to run a company like that. And this only seems to be a WWE problem, too.

NXT UK is firmly entrenched as being stuck in England. They won't fight anyone unless it's in their yard so... They're only relevant twice a year?

The only one that isn’t already based in the US is WALTER, because the other three had signed to NXT before NXT UK started up, so they’d already relocated to the US and only fly out to the UK for the NXT UK tapings. That’s why they’ve been able to make so many appearances on regular NXT at the start of their USA Network deal. Sorry to be a bear with this, it’s just me sitting here trying to figure out how to make a 200 person roster all look strong at the same time.

No, not everyone has to look strong all the time. In fact most could look far more vulnerable and benefit. But of all the guys that need to absolutely feel and be presented as special, WALTER would be at the top of my list as this point.

Why isn't this thread called, "The Entire Roster is a Bitch"?

I feel like NXT UK guys looking like goobers on not NXT is such a given that it's almost not fair to expect otherwise.

IMO, Seth could’ve afforded a loss against WALTER/Imperium. It could play into his whole crisis of confidence thing after the Fiend feud.

When you put it like that, I think that WWE might put too much into trying to book “dream matches” when they have these names available to them, so we end up with a Rollins v WALTER match that ostensibly puts WALTER at the same level as a multiple-time world champion, but is really one that neither guy should really be losing (regardless of how much people hate Rollins, he’s still their top male babyface).

I didn't feel like typing it out in the OP but this goes back to Rey getting his big bro to handle his bully (and having that fail lol), Kofi getting his shit wrecked and immediately moving on like a guy realizing he wasn't up to par and others. Nobody feels brave or righteous

Nobody feels brave or righteous Oh no I absolutely agree with the main point of this, especially those two examples. WWE's level of ability to make their guys look like total trash is incredible. Kofi and Velasquez both got it so bad that it was hilarious, Kofi especially.

Sorry to be a bear with this, it’s just me sitting here trying to figure out how to make a 200 person roster all look strong at the same time. They don't need to all look strong at the same time, it's WWE's biggest issue to keep anyone consistent, and especially in Imperium's case, make someone look like a threat out the gate They did this to SAnity too, they lost their first few matches and hey, that wouldn't matter if they got their wins back and came back stronger right? Well guess what happend? NOTHING, the faction died in WWE, they split them up. Was that for the better or worse is really yet to be seen but that's why people hate seeing people who are supposed to be a big deal, knocked flat out the gate. It was an issue when Seth "Hurt the Fiend too much", and it's been an issue in WWE for years now. They kill someone's aura before either finally biting and using them, or throwing them away because "Huh why do the people we keep booking to lose suddenly have no fan reaction?". Or even in a stronger sense, when you see someone like Kofi built up just to have the Lesnar shit happen, you almost have to wonder what the point was sometimes. Booking is just a mess, and it's why people are like this. How are we supposed to be confident a guy can lose and bounce back when WWE's reputation states they're f***ed most of the time? It's really hard.

It's reached the point at which fans have just lost interest in the talents.
If the ones we want to win are continually booked to lose, and the ones we'd rather see lose keep getting pushed over the moon, why should we continue caring either way?
