I don’t watch too much anymore, not even as background noise, but I like following the backstage drama and all that. And I like the shitposting and memes and such.
For example, I only ever saw Humberto Carillo wrestle once on 205 over the summer because I was super bored and turned it on...but I love the Dale Gas jokes lol

Because no matter how bad, annoying and how upset it makes people feel they at least get enough out of it whether it's love, interest, curiosity or just stockholm syndrome, they still feel attached enough to keep watching. Doesn't matter how bad it is at times, doesn't matter if there's competition. They've got em.
It's weirdly parallel to how Vince has the wrestlers with his Jedi Mind Trick except he's actually paying for them and providing living expenses and most seem to be happy. In this case for the fans who hate it it's the other way around where they just feel bad all the time, don't get paid and yet they're still attached.
With that said, it says a lot about how WWE's impacted the past of fans. They did so well that they can disappoint them numerous times and the people that watch will still watch. It's like you being a great boyfriend or girlfriend and then you turn into a shitty one and they still stay because of how you've treated them in the past.

Where else would I go to hear King's funny, totally fresh jokes?

I watched for years now, because of what it could be. They have the largest, most talented roster in the history of wrestling and it COULD BE so good. So I guess it was that hope that lived inside me. But I gave up on that months ago. I still follow what's happening because I like watching the pay per views, and my friends all keep up with it.
Between NXT, AEW and New Japan I'm set with just following along.

Where else would I go to hear King's funny, totally fresh jokes? I will forever give him a pass for his often repeated "I dated a redhead once" joke. No matter how many times I've heard it, I still chuckle. But that's it. That's the only one that gets a pass.

I don’t. I keep up via twitter.
There are so many great promotions right now. Great accessible promotions. Even for women’s wrestling.
WWE has the greatest wrestlers in the US. But that doesn’t matter because they have the worst creative team and execs watering them down.
Now is literally the best time to try something else, even if you still watch the E.

I only watch because Peyton Royce is nice to look at. Other than that I wouldn't watch at all.

Hope for some, habit for others, schadenfreude for the rest. This is so perfectly put! I'm a combo of all three. I watch out of habit hoping that something good will happen. When they do bad things it's funny to see how they deal with it and then see people's jokes online after.

The day I stopped watching main roster WWE on any sort of regular basis is the day I started enjoying watching wrestling again. Sometimes I'll watch a show here or there out of MST3k viewing and I'll try to catch NXT when I remember to watch it, but otherwise I'm off the WWE wagon. The alternatives out right now are ones I actually like watching versus feeling like I'm obligated to.
For anyone absolutely miserable watching the product right now: stop. Really. Once you break the cycle of habit watching, it feels almost liberating.

The ratings are in the shitter. Loads of people have already abandoned the product. The remaining viewers are the hardcore who would watch it regardless of quality, and those who genuinely do like it.

Coincidentally I think I’m done watching WWE at least when it’s on live anymore. I’ll still DVR the shows & just probably fast forward through most of it. It’s just become a miserable experience to keep sitting through these terrible shows live & not being able to fast forward through them.

People aren't watching. The ratings are at an all time low. Only because people haven't heard about Rusev The Sex Addict

It’s highly possible for people to watch things they enjoy while also pointing out the things that make them unhappy about it.

I can’t believe people actually watch it live with the commercials and everything. It’s so much more enjoyable when you’ve taped it.
