THANK YOU
He is by far the most egregious case of name loss.

Guarantee this happened as a result of that CBS spotlight.

I'm glad, the dude seemed gutted when he lost the Mustafa part of his name, and it's probably all because of CBS, but f*** it, anything to get it back for him.

As much as I try to not let the name changes bother me, the thing I don’t understand about them is... Wouldn’t it be easier to get the merchandising trademarks with a longer unique name? I’d know for sure that WWE would have had trouble with just Ali alone because the estate of Muhammad Ali would almost certainly have dibs on that.

At least he got his 1st name back, so I don't have to move him in my records since I go by alphabetical order by Last Name.

WWE taking last and first names away was stupid to begin with. Ali was not a good name. Mustafa Ali sounds way more impactful, I hope it helps him

Ali losing his first name was stupid. Cesaro and Rusev didn't bother me any since, like Batista, they have very easily remembered and impactful last names. Big E just barely gets away with it, on anyone else it'd be terrible.

Seriously Rusev, Cesaro and Big E are the only three people this has ever worked for and that's cause they're names no one else has.

I'll throw Elias into that as well, as it kind of fits the whole enigmatic musician thing to just have one name. Of the others, Andrade... I can take it or leave it, but I think Heavy Machinery probably need their surnames back.

It was definitely one of the more headscratching name changes. Mustafa Ali just sounds so much better than just Ali.

Honestly, Elias strikes me as someone who needs a last name and I would be fine if he had only a last name instead of just a first name. Andrade is the worst offender, even if he doesn't get Cien back, at least give him Almas back. It sucks we can't call him All Night Tucker Knight anymore or the the BullDozer.

I just assumed it was a bad look to have CBS do a spotlight on him bringing a positive light to his culture while WWE purposefully changed his name to sound less foreign. I know that's why he disliked the name change himself.

I always heard the name Mustafa and thought of that guy who teamed with New Jack. Or Mufasa from the lion king.
