The current NFL regular season overtime system is asinine. They did it for the sake of safety and that's good, but nothing else improved about overtime. It's borked. What I would propose for all OTs definitely sounds like a drastic change (mainly because it indeed IS a drastic change, but also because leagues seem to hate changing any rules significantly) but I think it's also fairly safe. (About as safe as a football OT can get.) - No kickoff, which is the least safe type of play anyway. - It'll basically be the college overtime system tweaked. Except it only goes on forever in playoffs, in regular season it only goes for 3 rounds. Coin flip winning team gets to choose if they go 1st or 2nd for all the rounds. Also they choose which endzone of the field for all of OT. - The rules stay uniform for each round/turn of overtime: Start on the 25 yard line. Normal 4 down/10 yard rules for moving the ball. All normal game rules stay the same. Any loss of possession means that team's turn is over with netting 0 extra points. - After both teams have had a full turn in round 1, a team wins the game if they have a higher score right there and then. A still tie score after round 1 means there will be a round 2. A still tie score after round 3 means game over, tie game result. - "Rules stay uniform for each round" means nothing from the college rules along the line of "k, now you have to go for a touchdown AND go for 2". No need for that added urgency, since NFL games can end in a tie unlike college games. It's just asinine that the current NFL OT rule is only 10 minutes, which is often NOT enough time for both teams to get one full drive like in normal game play (and I THOUGHT one of the goals for an NFL overtime was for both teams to get a sort-of fair shot at a score at least once.) Plus, this rule I would propose does something the NFL has wanted to do for a long time: Eliminate kickoffs.

The Onside Kick in the NFL is so fubared right now. I wish they would make it a 4th down and 25 play from your own 25. Something that's still really hard and risky, but not whatever the cluster@$#%$ the rules turned the current Onside Kick into.

Garrett isn't likely going to get fired from the Cowboys because he's not at fault for their problems. Garrett is a meat-puppet for Jerry. Jerry isn't going to find anybody else that will be his 100% mind controlled puppet. Jerry knows this. Jerry is the Owner/GM/Coach of his own team, fulfilling his life dream. I only see 3 Ways Garrett gets fired: he breaks Jerry's script to the point that he's no longer a mind controlled drone, he does something heinous and the NFL demands him be fired, or Jerry somehow finds another guy that will allow him to walk/talk/speak/act VIA Jerry shoving his hand up his ass to manipulate his mouth.

James Harden is the best offensive talent in the last 20 years and he's the last guy you want in charge if the game matters.

Legacy has WAY too much sway in College Football. If Ohio State had the same schedule and game outcomes as Minnesota this year they'd be ranked #1 as opposed to Minnesota who is on the outside looking in. If Wake Forrest had the same schedule and game outcomes as Clemson this year, they'd be ranked in the mid teens instead of a LOCK in the top 4. It's bullshit.
Notre Dame is the #1 offender of this. They've been a high ranked pretender so many times it's hard to even count them all.
*************
The most stressful games for an NFL Ref gotta be when the Packers, Cowboys and Steelers play each-other. Their minds must spin trying to figure out who is supposed to get all the favorable calls.

If Kaepernick would have beaten Gabbert for the starting job during his last season, He would never taken a knee.

Overtime/extra time must be abolished in all televised sports.

Hockey is by far the best sport to watch live.
Derek Jeter was massively overrated. His legacy was enhanced because he was a good player during a Yankees Dynasty. Put him in any other uniform with the same stat line he'd be remembered differently.
The Wild Card game in the MLB playoffs is stupid as one game is not a fair assessment of superiority in baseball.

Say what you will about his regular season stats but he delivered in the playoffs

I'm with you about Hockey. Anyway some of mine to add to this. ESPN radio non local shows is horrible. 90% of the time the NFL, College football and Basketball and the NBA seem to be the only sports that exist. If it's not football or basketball good luck getting any real convo about anything else.

I believe certain games were/are rigged.
Dynasties in sports are boring. In fact, the San Antonio Spurs dynasty hurt the NBA more than anyone will want to admit.

Soccer is utterly boring. Who wants to attend a game where a team *might* win?
The NBA is a big fix and horrendous to watch if you enjoy the sport of basketball.
Hockey is indeed the best spectator sport, but walking with a group or following a golf tournament live on-course (not TV) is also quite fun.
The overuse of defensive shifts and additional pitching changes have made MLB much too tedious and will continue to hurt the league's appeal with kids.
I cannot believe boxing is still a viable sport.

The particular brand of football the NFL has become post-2010ish is something I've completely turned off and I'm surprised others are still all-in on. Conservative coaching, copycat offenses, league-wide defensive mandates to inflate offensive style and numbers. Painfully inept leadership in Goodell on every front. Constantly out-of-line behavior off the field.
The NCAA is just as bad leadership, if not worse and more exploitative. But at least defenses aren't as blatantly hamstrung, NFL innovation constantly comes from CFB systems, less of a sterile corporate feel, better atmosphere, fanbases.
I have 0 reason to watch the NFL again.

- Kaepernick is better off not playing. All it would take is one asshole trying to hurt him to make a point and he could be badly injured.
- The Premier/Champions/Europa League are damaging football.
- Formula One would be better with a max of 30 laps and one driver per team. I also think every major car maker in the world should enter a team.
- Sky Sports have a bias towards Man Utd because they associate their own success as a broadcaster with Man Utd's dominance beginning in 1993.
- The Klitschkos killed my interest in heavyweight boxing.

There's nothing wrong with becoming a fan of a sports team when they start to get good, and then ceasing to be a fan when they are no longer winning. Think of it as being a fan of a particular group of players, not a particular city or franchise. For instance, I was a fan of the Phoenix Suns team that included Sir Charles, Thunder Dan, KJ, etc. It was that group of guys that I was a fan of, and once they were no longer a unit, I didn't care anymore about that team.
Similarly, there's nothing wrong with being a fan of a team from a city you don't live in. Most of the players aren't from that city either, so what does it matter?

For one, if you have a passion and a career, you should never be strong-armed out of it. Also, he's a lightning rod for both sides even now when he's out of football. And he's safer from the public in NFL stadiums, practice facilities, etc. than he is in public places. As for from other players, no one would go blatantly way over the line to injure a guy speaking out on race issues in a mostly-minority league. The owners are the ones most likely to hurt him (not physically) and they already have, so what's to lose?

If you are a Quarter Back and you see the Bear's calling on draft day, don't pick up the phone.
