No, I didn't have a stroke, FAN. I was just thinking about how much I enjoyed Necessary Roughness despite it being an admittedly bad movie. Then I turn on the TV and Sundance is playing the movie Draft Day, which isn't seen as a trash film but IMO is one of the flatly dumbest things I've ever watched. What are your guilty pleasure/overrated sports films?
Notable bad sports movies I like: The Program Blue Chips
Other good sports movies I can't stand: Moneyball Hoosiers Friday Night Lights
What are yours?

The Program is just batshit awesome. I remember people dying reenacting the scene where they lay down in the middle of the road, because people are stupid.
And I am amazed that Moneyball managed to make a painfully boring idea into an entertaining movie.

The Program is f***ing awesome. I try to make sure I watch it atleast once a year. I have no doubt in my mind all that shit was happening in the 80s and 90s college football.
I loved it as a kid, but Rudy is f***ing terrible. I can explain it other than it is just so stupid. Yeah he made a tackle!

Can we count ESPN's Playmakers? lol. Not only did they look like the Carolina Panthers, who had a boatload of problems at the time, but the NFL actually told them not to air the show. Off the top of my head, you had on ONE team:
Coach had cancer Crackhead running back Womanizing QB Gay tight end Aging player cheating on his wife and possibly hitting women A LB who is depressed after paralyzing another player
This shit was a total trainwreck, and my college roommate and I could not get enough of it. Of course, it only ran for one season since the NFL wanted nothing to do with it, and ESPN caved.

And it has gotten a lot more hate the last 10 years or so. Living in the Midwest in the still-glory days of ND in the 90s, it did seem like a larger than life culture thing.

I do think that the NCAA hated this/NFL hated Playmakers because it's damn close to what was/is actually happening.

So basically like our favorite "bad movie" movies? Like a non-sports example: "The Animal" that movie that starred Rob Schneider & one time Survivor contestant Colleen Haskell? I actually liked that movie somewhat. For sports, BASEketball is a good example. Also, Space Jam? Does that count as a "bad" movie, or simply one with mixed opinions. A lot of people liked it, but a lot of people thought it was too silly. (Then again, you could say the exact same thing about Rocky IV, and maybe a couple of the other Rocky movies as well. )

The Replacements was a formulaic underdog sports movie, but I love that one,

Rocky IV is legitimately one of my favorite movies. I know it's not an American cinematic classic, but I think most guys at least kind of like it. That's exactly what I'm looking for.

I'm a Red Sox fan and I've gone back and forth on "Fever Pitch" since it was released 14 years ago. Ask me about it one day, I'll say it's a cute, inoffensive romantic comedy that's watchable if nothing else is on. Ask me about it another day and I'll say it's the worst thing to happen to the Boston Red Sox since Carl Crawford's seven-year contract.
It's either my favorite movie that I hate or the worst movie that I love. I still have no idea.

Myself and everyone I know pretty much have the same opinion on that movie: "It was ok, nothing great but not terrible either. I like all the Red Sox stuff, though."

It's legit laugh out loud funny through out the whole movie.

Alright...I never liked Any Given Sunday. The book that it was partially based on (You're Okay, It's Just a Bruise: A Doctor's Sideline) is much better than what Stone turned it into.

I've got a mild take on Fever Pitch: Had Fallon/Barrymore not actually been on the field after game 4 of the 2004 World Series, this movie gets a lot less hate from Boston area fans. One movie that NEVER gets the love it deserves is Mystery, Alaska. That's a fun goodamn hockey movie
