I don't know if a Patriots/49ers Superbowl would be awesome or the worst thing ever. Couldn't be any worse than the one this past season.

For those of you looking forward to the game this evening, allow me to spoil it for you: the Patriots are going to lose. This is their annual "scheduled loss" where they could push some key players through pain to play but they know there's not an enormous amount at stake, so they're playing it safe. We saw it last year against the Titans and the year before in Miami. If this were a must-win week, they likely would have activated Mohamed Sanu, Philip Dorsett, and Jason McCourty and started Marcus Cannon, but it's an inter-conference game in crummy weather, so they know a loss today won't be devastating in the standings or tiebreakers. The goal, knowing how thin they are, is to not exacerbate any injuries and head into Houston next Sunday night closer to 100 percent. Maybe not. I'll eat my share of crow on this one, because the Patriots' defense came to play. I grossly underestimated how dominant they'd be against the Cowboys' top-ranked offense, which continues to prove the old axiom that a good defense beats a good offense. Stephon Gilmore's performance last night, holding Amari Cooper without a catch, should vault him into the conversation for Defensive Player of the Year if not to the lead of the award's front-runners. The Patriots now remind me a lot of the early years of the dynasty, namely 2001 and 2003, when Tom Brady didn't have to go out and win the game, it was a loaded defense that did it for him. Those Patriots teams won games by scores of 12-9, 9-3, and 12-0 (twice in 2003!) and it looks like if the Patriots are to hoist the Lombardi Trophy in a few months, it'll be because the defense led the way. I still have confidence that if he's called on to win a game, Tom Brady can do it, but so far the defense has - at least, for 10 out of 11 games this season - not asked him to lead the way.

It's weird, the Cowboys probably shoulda/coulda gone in there and stolen a win, because statistically they're the better team. Both teams are kind of underachieving this season, but the Pats are the team with a great record (it should be mentioned that the Pats have a much better coach and, at the very least, a quarterback that's more experienced and accustomed to winning tough games.)

Lamar looking great again I assume?
I just have to ask because it's really my only hang up about Jackson. Has he played an NFL game in real bad weather? I know he crushed my team the Patriots, but if the face again and it's in bad weather can he not make mistakes? Especially if the game is in Gillette imo

Lamar is going to murder the Niners QB run defense next week. I’ve already come to accept it. Hopefully the Seahawks lose at some point too.

Good old fashioned ass whuppin' tonight 45-6. Ravens got something with Lamar Jackson at the helm, at the defense sure helps, too.

Lamar's playing at an MVP level this year.
And what the hell happened to the Rams?
