She announced at today’s show that her final show will be the 12/24 Korakuen show (which I already had tickets for so lucky I guess?). Kind of a shocker, only 22, popular, and one of the high speed stars, it was all but a given that she was going to be a main eventer with built in feuds.

Saw this news a few minutes ago and I am shocked and bummed. She had so much more left to do in the ring.

I’m hoping this will be like Arisa’s retirement and she will come back at some point. But, health and happiness are most important so more power to her for getting out when she wanted to.

Damn, she retired sooner than I thought; shame, she was really damn good, but I get that she wants to get out of an industry that has a long habit of chewing people up and spitting them out.

A sad but familiar story with some joshis over the years (retiring young).
Hope she's not suffering from any health complications or nagging injuries.

Yeah, sad news. She's great. Glad she had a nice run as High Speed Champion where she pretty much re-established the belt and helped elevate Starlight Kid and AZM through those matches.

At the show. Her retirement speech was basically “I hate Stardom and hope nobody else has to unwillingly retire like me.”
Of course it fits her character but if you know the rumors of Bushiroad (and to an extent Sendai) forcing her out due to her family connections I buy into it. I would bet money on her showing up in SEAdLINNNG next year.

Acting or variety shows or she is getting married

Dave Meltzer reported that she wanted to move on and try other things in her life, also noting that she felt she couldn't get bigger than working Madison Square Garden, which she worked in a dark match before the ROH/NJPW show this year. She did the favors for one of her old partners AZM (17 years old), the newly-signed Giulia, and her latest partner Natsuko Tora before retiring.

There’s been a rumor going around her family is involved in shady business/crime, that Bushiroad found out about it after their acquisition and don’t want to feature her going forward, kinda your choice to buy into them or not though.

Ahh, hadn’t heard anything about that. Her speech was super interesting.

So is she just not going to attempt to sign or go to any other company to wrestle? Or is she just being straight up blackballed? Cause 22 Years old to being forced to retire because you can't compete in Stardom anymore is kind of suspect and shitty.
AEW is right there, but maybe she doesn't want to wrestle extensively in the US. There are also other Joshi companies but idk.

Probably new thread worthy but since this one got brought back up again I'll put it here. Kagetsu has also announced her retirement, saying she wants the focus to be on Mayu and new wrestlers and not old types like her. Her final show with Stardom is January 29th, and her final show overall will be a self-produced show on February 24th.

...Okay, so there has been scuttlebutt in the background for a long time that Hazuki and Kagetsu have been a thing. Kagetsu has shot it down in the past, but this is REAL sketchy.

Kagetsu and Mayu was the rumor I heard but not gonna do armchair psychologist on relationships unless you want us to dive into Yuka/Miyu lol Um I know the logical option is work but I’m fairly sure you’re gonna see Hazuki tagging with Yoshiko and Iroha soon. (Improvement imo) twitter.com/jajohnso/status/1209783107739701248?s=21As for Kagetsu her neck is so worn down, she wanted to quit two years ago but Io talked her into staying. It resulted in a good run but she needs the rest, and her coaching behind the scenes is just as valuable.

I know Kagetsu considered retiring a few years ago, and supposedly Io Shirai convinced her to stay in wrestling.

Really hoping Kagetsu stays with the company to continue training.

Forcing her out due to family connections? There’s been a rumor going around her family is involved in shady business/crime, that Bushiroad found out about it after their acquisition and don’t want to feature her going forward, kinda your choice to buy into them or not though. In fairness, organized crime has never stopped Japanese wrestlers being successful before, Masahiro Chono and Rikidozan both had Yakuza connections and Dozan was viewed as the founding father of Puro.
