Come on AEW, it was two minutes and could've easily just slipped in while Cody was in the damned ring. WHY leave important character development information like this off-air when it could've done nothing but help these guys get off the ground? You could've just had it interrupt Cody as he was IN-RING, and have them attack him a second time, but NO... Ugh...this is so irritating...don't do this AEW, don't do this! So the side I fall in here is that I actually really appreciate this stuff going on social media. Like, it was a really nice thing to find out there and stuff like this can get eyes on those checking social media for stuff that happens outside of the show, making it a wider universe compared to WWE where YouTube promos pretty much mean jack shit. Now...the problem comes when they don't promote it as such. If you're going to do this stuff (and honestly, by all accounts they should), mention it when you make the match announcement or have Excaliber say "See MJF's full statement on our Twitter" but summarize it for the audience watching. Put a brief clip up of him revealing he paid them off. But also leave enough for people to chase up the rest and get more followers, basically. It's like stuff concerning Dark. Mention that more, you can probably slip it in here and there and by all accounts, whilst not being as important as Dynamite, it adds more context to the wider picture. Hopefully they can hone it down because the concept of it is SUPER neat. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the use of social media to establish supplemental information on a character's motivations, but this is the kind of thing that really should have been front and center during their introduction. Things like the Dark Order "cult initiation" could've been better suited for the Twitter feed, since it didn't really add much more to the already established lore of the faction. Hell, what irritates me even more is the vignette that they DID air with Bunny explaining their actions gave a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT REASONING BEHIND THEIR ACTIONS. Bunny was going off how they were tired of seeing Cody's face and they're "in his house to cause pain and destruction". "...oh, and we're also paid mercenaries" was NEVER even hinted at. It's just...I'm not saying they need to explain every little thing to us as the audience, but can they at least build a proper foundation before making radical changes to character motivation like this?

That's fair too, really. Like Or weave it into the story like "Hey, we're here to cause chaos and we're not fans of you...but we happen to get on the bankroll for someone who hates you just as much".

I feel like AEW has the opposite problem of WWE.
WWE throws everything at your face as soon as they can.
AEW wants to very slowly unravel everything they do.

And I think both methods can work depending on execution, really. The problem with modern WWE writing is that it leaves out finer details to make the story make less sense but with AEW, it doesn't reveal stuff until later whether it benefits the gimmick/story or not which isn't a bad thing but they could afford to explain some stuff to set some foundations down.

That, or they beat you over the head with the shovel of "we will explain literally what you are seeing right now on screen because we don't think you get the symbolism of this moment" crap as well. Let the moment breathe for heaven's sake, we don't need to hear "Oh he's not liking this at all!" from Chair #2.

I do think using social media like this is in AEW's interests, given their stronger numbers in younger demographics.
That said, I also agree that they do need to do more to promote that on Dynamite, even just saying something in passing to direct people to check out so-and-so's Twitter feed or whatever to see explanations or whatever for things that just happened.

The thing is, they already kinda do this by mentioning things that happen on Being The Elite to explain why certain things are going down like Hangman Page leaving The Elite.

A simple "as seen on Being The Elite, which you can catch every Monday on the official BTE YouTube channel..." would suffice whenever they bring it up.

So the Cody attack had nothing to do with Brandy attack on Allie? Then why she turn heel and so evil?

Bit of a failure on vignettes and such, but if they bring the goods in the ring, I think they will be fine.
Like, they are bad segments, but they get us past the "who even are you?" phase and to the point where we can just see if they can go.

I was going to say "But I don't want to be required to follow the talent on Twitter".
...but that's just proof that I'm not the audience they want.

I figured it was because them rolling in on Cody would've automatically created a buzz ala walking up to the biggest guy in prison and picking a fight, but tying it into the MJF feud works better.

MJF paid them to attack Cody. Come on AEW, it was two minutes and could've easily just slipped in while Cody was in the damned ring. You could've just had it interrupt Cody as he was IN-RING, and have them attack him a second time, but NO... Ugh...this is so irritating...don't do this AEW, don't do this! Yeah this is such a pet peeve of mine too Now maybe I’m not in AEWs target demo but I’m in my 30s, have a full time job and a family so I don’t really have the time to live my life, watch Dynamite, watch Being the Elite and then follow all the roster on twitter incase some character development shows up Cut one decent length match that serves no purpose and boom you can fit a couple more vignettes/interviews in. Not to just be negative for the sake of it, I will say they are getting better at it than they were at the start as we’ve had a few dark order and they even did one with Triple B too As for MJF and Triple B having different explanations for the attack, why can’t it be both. MJF got them to do it to distract Cody and they agreed to do it because they were sick of seeing Cody everywhere

Now I'm imagining if it was Matt Striker instead of Excalibur.
