Just curious. I'm not even going entirely for "whataboutism" here, but Lawler adopting the old phony Asian accent in reference to the Kabuki Warriors seems like several miles worse than what Cornette said on Powerrr. Or JR's line about "Orientals" that he immediately apologized for. And it's not like the Raw thread had anyone defending Lawler's commentary in general.
That all being said, that there's been mostly silence regarding it doesn't exactly refute the conspiracy theory that Cornette was done in more by AEW/Joey Janela/Joey Ryan fans than by actual offended people. And I hate conspiracy theories as a general rule. But the shoe is slowly starting to fit here.

Does someone has a clip of what Lawler said?

People who "don't want to defend Jim Cornette but also think everyone is badwrong for ripping on him and 'being offended'" sure are eager to point out any time anyone else f***s up and thinks somehow this is a gotcha moment.

It is in fact a gotcha moment--it's a gotcha moment for Lawler, or it sure as hell should have been.

Also in both threads made in the past month-ish about JR over in the AEW section people have brought up his happy ending and "Oriental" comments. I don't watch Raw so I don't know what impression you're referring to, but Lawler's 'jumping bean' comment about Humberto got a thread and then a second thread for good measure. Right now in wrest is a seven page thread about something sexist Sandman said that somebody claimed wouldn't go long because the lack of "dedicated haters" meant Sandman wasn't going to get heat because nobody actually cares about bigotry just shutting down people who don't like wrestling companies they like, and that has gone on to be seven pages of people pretty unanimously saying "wow what a chud" about Sandman.

I have absolutely no idea what you’re referring to Lawler's "WE BEAT CHOO" during the Kabuki Warriors' entrance.

Sandman deserves to be called out but he's also a washed-up indy scum dude working basically-irrelevant indy shows, not a washed-up territory scum dude who's getting a national outlet for his commentary.

Lawler has entertained me over the years but unfortunately I'm not surprised at those comments, I was watching Royal Rumble 2000 and he goes on about Taka Michinoku going to a "Chinese hospital" after he gets concussed during the Rumble match.

2000 was indeed a different time. Not to fall back on that as an excuse, but it means there's even less reason to be doing shtick like that 19 years later. (Tazz used to call Kaientai "Chinese" all the time, too.)

Right? But what does that have to do with a) literally anything b) Jim Cornette? When your post about Jerry Lawler's bad impression contains more Jim Cornette content than it does actual expressions of anger at the racism it leaves people wondering if you really care about the racism or of you just want an excuse to take another conversation and retroactively "win" it by painting the opposing side as the epxosed hypocrites who really are out for blood and don't have morals. This is really weird and why do people keep doing this?

I was in a pretty furious battle with the Cult of Cornette on a Facebook group over what he said. This is not a defense of Cornette, it's me coming around to the idea that other people were more interested in getting one over on *him* than about racism, because Lawler's worse comment has passd with almost no scrutiny. Both are bad, both should be condemned, but Lawler's comments were worse and even less defensible.
Edit: I started the discussion in the WWE thread so I'm going to keep it centered around Lawler going forward. Not Cornette and sure as hell not the Sandman.

If it's not about Cornette then stop bringing his name up.

I tracked down the bit and I'll share the link but it's not on WWE"s official Youtube so not embedded. Timestamp is like 1:07 or so and I mean it's. It's not funny or a joke or good. But I'd hesitate to call it like actively and measurably worse than the fried chicken/starving people line. I don't know how much he even put on an accent versus just is a f***ing goofus thinking this was funny. Like it's bad, and I'm not going to say it's defensible or good at all but it does seem like so minor a thing that it could easily just have been spaced over, especially with entrance music going and nobody paying attention to Raw commentary, especially Lawler, in the first place.

Raw commentary being so bad that sh*tty stereotype humor gets glossed over is certainly an interesting defense. And possibly even true.

It's not a defense against anything but any sort of weird character attacks on the community, and if you aren't making those there's nothing to defend. What Lawler said was trash and I'm defending 0% of it, I just think a lot of stuff can end up not going noticed when no one is paying attention to any of it.

King had his day, but I kind of wonder what value that the WWE sees in paying this dude a righteous amount of money to be a trash announcer and creep on women three times as young as him.
