That match picked up in a goddamn hurry!
For two people with different levels of experience, that showed why Shida was one of the first big international signees and Statlander is a hot prospect.

Shida is great but from the first I saw of Statlander..she may be the star the division needs. Just a force to be reckoned with. And I dig the alien shit.
Great match. Some brutal shots near the end of it. Kris’ finisher is sick. I’m so happy she signed with them.

Imo the best match for the division yet. Shida didn't have to slow down for Stat and Stat SHINED throughout.

I have been champing at the bit for Statlander to get a contract, and that match showed why. She is a fantastic wrestler; her moveset compliments her gimmick without getting in the way of the match; her mannerisms are distinctive; she is interesting in a way that is congruent with AEW's best gimmick acts (like Luchasaurus, Dark Order, and Orange); and she has a hook that I think could intrigue potential fans enough to get them to try the show.
Oh, and Shida is just a tremendous pure wrestler.
Backbone of the division, both of them.

Kris is the future of the women division, in her third year in the sport and she is already this good, she is pretty much what AEW was expecting Britt to be.

This continues to show AEW's unpredictability and I love them for it. No one thought Statlander was winning this match and by god she did a star has been born. Shit was incredible from start to finish and thank god they signed her
AEW's Women's Division is getting better

Kenny was right about the division becoming good next year, it was a mistake trying to build the division with Britt and Nyla from the very start. I think Nyla was fine, Britt, less so, but I don't want to judge them too harshly since they clearly had plans for Kylie Rae that had to be scrapped, and I don't think Allie turning in an atrocious match with Brandi helped, either, early on. That said, Kris and Shida rock. Kris is like if you took everything fun about Planet Stasiak, and made it unironically great, too. |

Kris is like if you took everything fun about Planet Stasiak, and made it unironically great, too. That is well put. I feel like she mostly hits the same sweet spot as the Undertaker being undead - where her being an alien doesn't preclude her from having normal wrestler motivations, and also is easy to not contradict. The commentary line about her spaceship crashing by her wrestling school was well played. |
