I will admit I want AEW to beat NXT in the ratings not because I dislike NXT (it's a great wrestling show with some talent I really enjoy) I just dislike WWE putting it purposely on the same night to try and take viewers away from AEW and doing all the tricks in the book to try and beat them (pre show, overrun, the whole invasion stuff). And before anyone says NXT has always been on Wednesday they had a slot on Tuesday night waiting for them with Smackdown moving that they would have certainly had if AEW were not around or put their show on Tuesday. I also think when Triple H called them a pissant company he meant it, I can imagine him saying it to his kliq pals. So I will always enjoy AEW winning to stick it to him. I'd rather a new company be successful rather than WWE put them out of business because WWE must own all of wrestling. I disagree with all of that I separate NXT from WWE as a whole and I liked to see two things I can enjoy and watch on Wed. Who really wins is irrelevant if they are both close in ratings but at least you are honest because their be some Evil Knievel leaps in logic from folks at points to justify AEW when it doesn't need to go that far

AEW had no choice but to land on wednesday because every other night they would get slaughtered in the ratings and the weekends would do them no favors as a new show.

Man vs. Bear?
Remember when the Discovery Channel wasn't 2001 Fox specials?

Cody himself said when the time comes he'll help out WWE so the whole "yeah it's a war guys" thing just looks so silly to me. If he's saying that (like a lot in both companies have repeatedly said) then that says that they don't care much about this war. The reality is that the fans were hurt by WWE's comments and programming for years to the point where they want there to be a war because they want the thing that hurt them to be beaten by this other thing they like. That's just too much. That's like some Nintendo vs Sega stuff except in that case they were really at war with each other with the full on campaigns to take the other day.
Honestly the only one in AEW who cares about this war is probably Chris Jericho and that's because dude was so hurt by Vince.

I think it doesn’t matter to people though. Because NXT “had the choice”’of a day with SD leaving that’s all that matters when as you said this is the same date they had before

The biggest story is how close these demos are getting. Female viewers are neck and neck.

There needs to be a breakdown towards which segments female viewers watch the most because I'm curious who they gravitate towards on both shows. I remember Vince pushing Corbin because he thought "women liked Corbin" so it makes me wonder who women truly like.

So the one thing we can take from the ratings so far is the over 50+ fans love them some NXT... and the great taste of oatmeal.

I think what we'll see is that NXT will spike when there is main roster involvement or crossover stuff going on, but then it will flatten back down to the usual numbers and AEW will win the night. We'll see if NXT maintains that 850,000 or so viewers. This is what I think as well. At the end of the day, it'll all come down to how loaded WWE wants to make NXT each week. Typically, I doubt normal NXT will win the rating war most weeks.

I don’t think it would bother me as much if WWE hadn’t spent the last 20 years complaining about WCW counter programming them like it was a war crime.

For me the really interesting part still remains how the combined Wednesday night numbers aren't that far off from the basement for Raw's hour 3. Obviously there's lots of checked out non-WWE fans and a lot of WWE fans who aren't watching anything that isn't Raw or Smackdown, let alone just Raw, so the overlap isn't perfect. But it's still an interesting baseline to consider as we trend toward whatever the hell the future for wrestling is

Neilson ratings don't care about storylines. Those people dont care who won at Survivor Series they care about numbers. The show with the most numbers is the A show come on now. We can't be doing this. Great for AEW but honestly I overestimated them. I figured they'd do over 1M again but I was wrong. The honeymoon phase is over. Seems they're settling into a rhythm now which is dope for then. I still think they can grow but they will need a REALLY good storyline to reach the 1m line I don't doubt they can again. They are still a building brand that is having more success out of the gate than anybody including the network expected. Hell the AEW brass wasn't expecting these numbers out of the gate. The fact they have maintained all but one week being a top 10 overall show says a lot, last week was the first and only time they weren't top 10. I feel as long they keep putting on good shows and we get close to that next PPV. They could hit that number. Especially if and when they work the Jericho vs. Moxley program which clearly they are going that way sooner than later. I feel if they land Marty Scrull would be another number booster on his debut since he the next big deal talent that is about to be on the market once his finished his last ROH date. I also want to point out from the other post in the thread about the night choice. The reason why AEW went Wednesday because TNT has NBA games on Tuesday which would been the only other night that would make sense. NXT went live on USA say what you want about that but NXT was always Wednesday on the network but was the move to USA because of AEW who knows.

I want both these companys to thrive. They’re awesome and the respective and mutual fans love them. We as wrestling fans deserve it as do they for the quality product they’re putting out.

I absolutely don't mind people critiquing either show. That's how they get better. But since I became a fan, I've had to deal with a decade of mostly awful RAWs and Smackdowns and Impacts. And now we have two shows that are on their off weeks are merely above average. We're in heaven right now and I hope both shows can go over one million next year.

And they only announced it going live and two hours after AEW announced it was airing Wednesdays Why does that matter tho? NXT was on Wednesdays, they were going to go live at some point with all this change Because they were clearly waiting for AEW to make the first move. Plus it would have been better to be at SD! Old Time Slot since well...people are using to watch wrestling at that time slot.Plus with all the news from different sources, NXT having much more time and freedom to choose a time and Vince being Vince,it is pretty clear it was a chocie to hurt AEW. If AEW had picked SD! Old Time Slot, same old dance "oh we already had TV wrestling at that same time,it is just natural,if anything they chose to go against us". It is just too many factors for me to not consider on purpose

The whole "NXT was on Wed.!" argument is so laughable to me. Who here even watched NXT on the WWE Network live on Wed. as it aired? I don't think I ever watched a single episode that way. I would watch it on Sat. when I had the chance. A nominal airing on a platform service is not like airing a show on national TV. It's not like NXT couldn't have simply replaced SD on USA with the Tues. night time slot. The only reason to air it on Wed. is to screw AEW. Question: Would NXT do a better number on Tues. instead of Wed.? Of course they would. It's literally a show that exists on USA to sabotage someone else, and to me it needs to be rejected as such. I still watch on the WWE Network (when it decides to work!), but sorry I'm not giving NXT on USA the time of day if I can avoid it.
