Apparently there was an issue with Spectrum viewers where TNT was blacked out for most of the first hour of the show, so that could have affected things a lot. Might not be a step back then, more an unfortunate stroke of luck They definitely need a bounce back next week since it's the last show of the year.

So they never really gained what they lost from the first hour blackout

Not even cody's star power could prevent the drop against triple B, which is understandable given it's a new team plus he was tagged with what I guess most people perceived to be a jobber. The rest isn't much of a surprise, especially the kenny, page, and spears combo but admittedly didn't drop off that much. And at first I was ooof no one wants a dinosaur but over on the nxt thread someone pointed out that this was the time people jumped over to catch their main event so that's what probably happened here

Yeah I was one of the Spectrum viewers that got a black screen for nearly the entire first hour of AEW last night. Spectrum/Charter services about 26 million customers and is the 2nd biggest cable company out there (behind Comcast) so this really might have hurt AEW's ratings. Yet people ask me why I never use Charter. They always have more problems that anybody it seems.

Well the odd thing is that I opened up the Spectrum app on the TV (which is net based) the show worked. Now I don't know if it was working again on the cable or not, because I immediately flipped back to the regular cable. If I could simply change channels easily on the app I'd use it.

According to Bryan Alvarez a few people in AEW want a 9 minute overrun since it is about 250.000 people that go to NXT.But TNT says no.

WWE seems to care a lot so why shouldn't they? Only one promotion has counter programmed, done pre shows, overruns, invasions etc.

I mean, for one thing I think they're happy with things as they are and if they keep above their original expectations, having more won't make much of a difference. Like, I don't think TNT want to be dragged into all this nonsense when the schedule choice was one that suited them more than it did AEW (but long term, it really will suit AEW). Also, if there's an overrun this week, it'll interrupt their showing of Battleship, which is a great movie don't care what anyone says DON'T @ ME!

Just saying AEW has its own internal ratings goals. Why would they want an overrun when NXT’s overrun doesn’t affect AEW’s numbers, it just increases NXT’s? Seems like the only purpose for advocating for that would be because you want to “beat” NXT.

Another purpose for it would be giving the last matches of the night more time and any big fallout to end shows more time as well. It can serve r a big purpose for AEW's constraints to add like 10 minutes to their show outside of NXT stuff. Their show is pretty well constructed now and the time hasn't really hurt them which is good, but that can help the show breathe a bit easier, and that's why NXT has an overrun too. It's just more lenient with writing and match pacing really.

WWE literally put out a statement recognising the competition and saying it was a marathon not a sprint. They both want to beat each other.

It could also be the case that if they're worried that if someone turns the channel for the nine minute overrun and they see a hot angle, they might want to tune in to NXT the next week, at least at the start. I personally don't mind it because I know I can either DVR NXT or just switch at 10 because I know they won't do something until AEW is over. I get why they would want to match them though. Plus, an overrun makes the timing of everything easier since you don't need to absolutely rush yourself to hit specific time queue.

I think an overrun would help a lot in helping with pacing in the show. Especially for the main events where it feels like a few of them have had abrupt ends because they run up against the clock.

DVR viewership: AEW : 550k NXT : 400k Where can we take a look at these? I’ve had trouble finding a source that consistently puts out the DVR numbers.
