well the PPV just ended and after the main event {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Marty Scurll came out and confronted Nick Aldis, so it would seem this is where he's going and not AEW, or WWE

Yeah this is a huge letdown for me if Scrull is exclusively going to NWA, because frankly with their management I don't want to support them, and I was very excited about the prospect of Marty rejoining his Elite friends in AEW on a grand stage. This feels like a step sideways to me for him, not forward. Unless he works AEW too.

Doubt it is exclusive but it is a nice side trip for him
As i've been saying for a good min, Marty doesn't need his friends to be over unlike Adam Page who needed them. Marty can take his time and potentially branch out to do his own thing but I see this as a detour more than anything

I assume it could even be at Revolution, or directly after.

Whatever decision he makes he is still your friend and more often then not he's coming there but he doesn't need to immediately go there When he goes there he needs to propped up as the big acquisition and instant world title challenger.

Does the NWA actually have a decent budget? I can’t imagine that they can pay anyone of name value anything approaching AEW or WWE.

I doubt it's long term exclusive.

Doubt its a long term thing. Something he does on the side before he goes to AEW. I wasn't expecting him to be showing up next week or anything.

I won't be shocked if Marty ends up doing a sort of Cody-esque thing and pops up in different promotions for a bit to build up the buzz around his name before he lands in AEW.
To be clear, there's still the potential that AEW doesn't end up being his destination for the near future; there's been buzz in the recent past that he's still interested in working with NJPW more, and maybe he wants to bounce around for awhile in the meantime at a point where the wrestling world will pretty much be his oyster. It's just hard to imagine that AEW won't be his ultimate destination given his connections there, think it's just more a matter of when than if.

Realistically, Marty doesn't need AEW right now and vice versa.
Granted, I WANT Marty there.... I would love it if there was a John Morrison thing where it was like Marty has agreed to join AEW later in 2020, or something to that extent. I want Marty to go as far as he can on his own, but I also really want him to spend some time in his friends' playground too.
That said.... Marty in NWA will bring more eyes to that product as, while I like Powerrr.. I'm mainly seeing people I thought weren't wrestling anymore (James Storm, Anderson, Homicide, Trevor Murdoch)... Marty is a here and now superstar that can legitimize the resurgence.

Marty would most absolutely be able to work New Japan and AEW. We already have a handful of AEW Stars who are either working NJPW already or want to. New Japan isn't turning down flexible deals, it's only good business for them. I wonder when we may see reciprocation for that, I know they said they're waiting to see how AEW grows, but on their end, they have no issue giving guys flexible dates.

As harsh as it sounds i feel like the NWA is mosty home to a bunch of has-beens who haven't done anything in years and no one else really wants so Marty going there makes it a step up for them and step down for him or at least that's how i feel.

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter where Marty’s final destination is. Him showing up tonight made the NWA show that much better and it gives you a reason to keep coming back. He & Aldis will have a great program together.

Aside from Eli Drake, I think you’re right on the money with this: Colt Cabana, Damien Sandow, Eddie Kingston & Homicide, James Storm, Ken Anderson, Nick Aldis, The Rock n’ Roll Express, Tim Storm, Trevor Murdoch, Melina, ODB. While I give NWA a lot of props for making such a fun product with what seems on paper like a rag tag collection of wrestlers, Scurll is a huge get for them.

their schedule is really easy so it wouldn't interfere with anything major

their schedule is really easy so it wouldn't interfere with anything major Helps they do tapings for months in advance and only seem to go live for PPVs, I imagine that works fine for Marty and any potential others.

Cabana can still go well, but yeah there's a lot of older guard on this product, which to be fair NWA seems to want, they want an old school look and feel and some of those guys bring it. Also can't hate on Eddie Kingston, I don't know what he has left in the tank but back in the day that dude had some of the best storytelling promos and matches I've ever seen. I only want him to be showcased more often and transition into a manager role when all is said and done.

In my opinion Marty is doing the right thing holding off on AEW a while- let them build up a bit more, establish and flesh out the roster a bit more before his debut, it will make his debut a bigger deal. I think he gets lost in the shuffle if he comes in at the moment.
All he'd have to commit to over the next 2 months with the NWA are the tapings the next 2 nights and the PPV on jan 24th.
Anyway, I really liked Into the Fire. Love how characters are the main focus. And the in ring stuff ain't that bad either.
