It was bad. Legit that was likely the worst thing AEW has ever produced. Feel bad for Riho and Statlander... and even Luther since this is the first break he's gotten in the US.
AEW has to do what they've consistently done and adjust to try and make it work... but honestly this one is somewhat tough to come back from

On the one hand, it wasn’t my favorite thing in the world, Brandi buried people a bit too much on commentary and it went a bit long in the tooth.
On the other, there’s finally other storylines for the women (albeit not perfectly fleshed out but that can be worked on) and regardless of everything going on, the crowd was really into it.
So yeah, real mixed bag there.

That is the first thing of AEW that I would say is straight up sucks in almost every way. The only good part was when it brought the faces together ,so it means we will see then more.

Genuinely awful and unsalvageable. End the "Let Brandi do whatever she wants" project.

I was frustrated because there are a lot of ways for you to do that angle that isn't such a mess. Take Brandi off commentary and have a quick spot where they cost Kris the match and you're good.

This could have gone better, they tried to do too much, and the worst thing is they had a week to fix this. Nightmare Collective needs work, it needs to be fixed and fleshed out. Good news is, they have a Bash at the Beach match with Statlander and Shida
But it was a mess and there's no defending it. Should have had it all come to a head after the match and not during. The interference just muddled everything up. They need to make things clearer, especially when this is gonna involve so many of the girls in the division it looks like.
Luther is an addition I like because he adds to the hardcore mentality AEW can have with Mox, Havoc, and Allin, but I'm not sure how he fits here if I'm honest, we need more of an explanation to that especially.

It was terrible, and was a true blight on what’s otherwise been an excellent weekly show.
I’m not even sure it’s salvageable. Unless it just starts to be Awesome Kong destroying fools with the NC as her backup. But even then, it’s so far gone at this point I think that Statlander and Shida should decisively beat them and have that be it. Let Dr. Luther fight Joey Janela in a “lights out” match, and be the resident hardcore guy. He’ll get over that way.

You know why Nightmare Collective really doesn't work?
It's not the gimmick (even though the Dark Order really has the spooky cult covered), it's that Brandi doesn't fit this.
It doesn't make sense that Cody's wife is also a spooky cultist on the side. I realize she wants to do her own thing, but I'm sorry, you need to play within a reasonable expansion of what your viewers know of you.

Brandi has to go. She flat out buried Kris and Riho on commentary Brandi, as far as I'm concerned, reminds me exactly of how Thomas Lennon described what Hulk Hogan must have been like during his films; working with her is a lot like filming a cat food commercial. It's super easy for Brandi to lose focus on the important stuff and instead focus on pointless crap or herself. There's too much at stake in this nascent division to bum f*** with right now. Hell, they even screwed up their own narrative from a few weeks ago tonight.

As an individual segment: it was too much packed into one match. Riho and Kris looked like they were putting a perfectly good match together, but too many moments of interference and whatnot dragged it down from being as solid as it would have otherwise been. Should have kept things simpler, like keeping the interference to just sweeping Kris's legs out from under her to give Riho the win at the end of the match and THEN starting a beatdown, but instead there was a bunch of attempts at interference that wound up detracting from the match itself.
In the larger picture: the key problem here is that we don't know what Brandi's character is, here. I get going for mystery, but you have to give the audience something to work off of, because right now we can't even speculate or make predictions, there just isn't enough that's there on a consistent basis to do that with. That showed in Brandi's commentary this week. Dark Order began to hit right when they established firmly who they were: a cult that preyed on the weak and vulnerable and offered them strength in numbers, playing off real life online hate groups and things like that to give it a more true to life edge despite how weird the masks and stuff are. We need to know what's making Brandi's group tick in order to care about what they're doing, and we don't have that yet.
Now, the fact there's a tag match involving them next week? That gives me a bit of hope that they might at last establish what their purpose is, either next week or over the next few. But it needs to happen quickly, or else there won't be a chance to recover. Agreed with those saying it was cool to see the faces work together at the end of the segment, and Baker just sitting back like '@#$% all y'all" was a good moment to further her turn, but again, we need to know WHAT they're working together against. Don't have to give away everything right away, but throw us a frickin' bone here.</dr-evil-voice>

Or even just have it happen after, with the NC confronting both Riho and Statlander after the match and then the beatdown.

I didn't find it shit-the-bed terrible, but it definitely wasn't good. Very awkward and way overbooked.

I don’t understand why Brandi is leading a supernatural/oddity stable. Feels like a stretch for her character.

It was bad. Just...bad. I'm an admitted AEW stan that will find the silver lining in anything. I've even turned the corner on the Dark Order stuff. But...this was just bad. And Brandi on commentary had me literally mute the TV.

Horrible in every sense of the word. Brandi made Stephanie McMahon pre feminist-for-profit look tolerable. She either needs to stop being an on air character or tone it down big time when she is.

I don’t understand why Brandi is leading a supernatural/oddity stable. Feels like a stretch for her character. From what I can figure, feels like they're going off of some of the spookiness about Kharma from when Kong did that gimmick, and I guess answering why she'd answer to Brandi in one go, but it still isn't coming together for me. I like Kong cutting the hair with the karambit knife, that's kind of a fun visual, but I feel like it's not coming together. Not helping one bit is that Dark Order are a thing at the same time and just better. It's putting them in a situation similar to the Brood, where they had the awesome entrance and all, but they still looked like dorks due to not being part of the Ministry minus for like a week once, so it's kind of a "why do we have both??" question.
