It all comes down to preference but it was more like a segment bundled together than it being a “worst of all time” people elsewhere laud it as. Bad? Oh no doubt. Idc about worst of all time, that's hyperbole Is it the worst AEW segment thus far in their run is a more fair question? Honestly, yeah. Like, one of AEW’s strongest points for me is being able to tell a lot of stories at once without disturbing the flow of the match (Spears/Allin/Avalon was a great example, the Six man from FftF was too etc) and this...wasn’t those things. It felt really messy.

Whatever improvements have been made, Brandi is not part of those improvements and someone should talk to her at some point or revamp this whole thing AEW has been great at adapting things on the fly but they are being real stubborn about this

Brandi and NC are an albatross on the division, and they haven’t even wrestled yet. (Dr. Luther is currently the best of the bunch. Kong is broken down, and Melanie Cruise has always sucked).
Kenny knows who should be the top three: Riho, Shida, Kris, maybe change Riho with someone else on the rise. But the other two bookers are Kong and Brandi, so....

Posting this because it kinda fits the thread So seeing this properly (work doesn't allow us to see tweets)...how exactly did people get "Man, we only listen to positive criticism, f*** the rest of them" from this? Because that's what happens with other wrestlers when they tweet stuff and it gets taken to the next level

If it confirmed that Kong and Brandi are the main bookers of the division? I remember that they constantly say Kenny produces the matches but not beyond that

There was just too much too digest at one time during this match. Worst thing is the match started pretty solid, then the nightmare collective themselves literally pumped the brakes on it altogether.
They really need to decide how they move forward with brandi and co. , I mean the stable itself looks good on paper, but none of it makes all that much sense right now.

Reading what they want to read into it like some folks are wont to do concerning AEW, or an absolute ignorance about how vile wrestling fans can be on Twitter and elsewhere.

...The Luthor thing was what it was, I had zero idea who he was and if I had never read Jericho's book I probably wouldn't have known even after Excalibur "explained" him. More hardcore guys is always a plus since that seems to be a bright spot for AEW at times so good pick up nonetheless..... Same here, I legit had no idea who he was until Excalibur "explained". For a second I thought he was Dustin sans makeup, then for another second, I thought he might be Mideon (sp?) of Ministry of Darkness fame.

Posting this because it kinda fits the thread Now I'm not saying all fans are innocent, however, I'll always love how Pro Wrestling Promotors (and sometimes talent) routinely and publically shit all over their fanbase(s). The only comparable thing I can think of is recent hostility by Comic Book industry insiders (mainly via Twitter) towards their fans, which is not nearly as widespread.

I mean, the actual talent themselves did well. I enjoyed the match when there was actually in ring action going on. The problem was all the other BS but for the ring work, there was a lot to like there.

The match/segment was uploaded on the AEW yt account, and the like/dislike ration is negative, for the first time in AEW history.

I'm sure some of the women involved are taking whatever levels of crap from the poisonous corners of wrestling Twitter, so seems like it's Dustin basically saying they have their backs, which is fair.

As far as I know, Brandi was more involved in scouting and getting talents' feet in the door with Leva Bates helping her out. Never heard anything about Kong having any real booking power.

I hope Brandi is enjoying herself, because she’s probably the only one.

Upside here? Nightmare Collective's segment had no effect on AEW. They had a strong ratings showing, and beat NXT soundly this week.
I don't know if it'll have a trickle down effect from next week, but at the very least, this didn't turn fans away from the show, and they can hopefully try and get something salvaged at Bash at the Beach

I consider myself to have a pretty in depth knowledge of wrestlers from quite a lot of eras and when my other half said 'who's that?' and I found myself squinting at the screen with nothing close to an answer dropping into my head, you know they've gone really obscure. After a quick Google, the name Dr. Luther rang a bell, but beyond that I couldn't have told you a thing about him.
Like, where on earth did that come from? Seems so left field. The guy was never really a name, basically unrecogniseable to a mainstream audience and as far as I know has no real link to the company other than maybe his early days with Jericho.

Its bad cause this Brandi stuff has been bad since they started it but they keep double, triple and quadrupling down on it.The women’s division started poorly but had been seemingly improving with Statlander,Swole,Shanna and a few others and now you kill whatever momentum they gained by involving them in this garbage and having Brandi bury the entire division. I always thought Brandi’s best role was as Cody’s valet she added to his presentation in a big way and they looked great together. Honestly, her just managing Kong would be better. No faction or bs like that but Brandi as her mouthpiece would be fine I think. And that would have likely been effective; Brandi and the monster she controlled. I don't think the Elite is tone-deaf to criticism about things that suck. Early on, I was afraid the division was just going to be about Riho and Britt Baker, and the past few weeks, they have managed to build around more talent instead of putting all their energy in those two, and it seems like they are taking the negative blowback towards the Britt superpush (especially from the Indianapolis show) as a means for a heel turn, which should help her develop a character and reestablish her as a viable top babyface down the road. The problem is... Brandi, and I doubt they're going to tell Cody that his wife just plain sucks and is a complete boob at everything when it comes to wrestling. Not because it's gonna hurt Cody's feelings, but because I think Brandi's likely oblivious to that reality and to convince her otherwise will require more effort, apparently, than just continuing on with whatever this is. However, that's the problem. They really need to 86 this.
