Next, the Rock will buy the rights to the XWF from Hogan and Jimmy Hart and bring it back. Just wait for first World Champion Quick-Kick.

The last 2-3 years of Rock's life have been the definition of a man high off his own supply. Becoming the most well-paid actor in Hollywood isn't anything to take lightly, but it was at that point Rock ceased to consider himself an actor and became a brand to be packaged and sold. Problem is, nobody's really buying. He's over exposing himself somebody might have to tell him to stop saying yes to every movie role. Dude has become worse than Arnold was in the 90's. I think his biggest issue is that he isn't being especially adventurous with his projects he signs on to do. I disagree with the oversimplification people give sometimes that Rock "only plays the Rock", since it's not exactly like Hobbs and Maui are the same character by any stretch, for example, but, he still doesn't demonstrate range as much as he could and arguably should. Bautista is probably the best at varying his portfolio as far as former wrestler actors go, but Cena's been no slouch there, either. It's not without risks, but Dwayne Johnson really doesn't want people to get sick of him, demonstrate some depth.

The annoying thing about Dwayne is early in his acting career he showed a lot of range and potential. Like he was hardly gonna win an Oscar but Walking Tall, Pain and Gain, Gridiron Gang, and Get Smart, he showed some bits of comedy, drama, action, everything in those and they all felt like unique characters. Most of his movies now it does feel like he essentially just plays Dwayne Johnson, the super cool and jacked hollywood superstar under a pseudonym. That meme of 4 different shots of him in the jungle that looks like the same movie but is actually 4 different ones is so painfully accurate.

Right, and the issue is, even successful projects like Jumanji feed into the problem of it all blurring together. Movies don't have to be flops to be potentially damaging to an actor, if it feels like it's all you ever do. I'm not saying he should try to chase an Oscar, necessarily, like Will Smith eventually got a bit obsessed with doing, but he could maybe take some cues from him in terms of trying to graduate to a different stage of his career.

Doesn't anyone or any entity that's successful need a failure for a tax write off anyway? Most certainly this. QFT

Some people I can just watch the acting and whatever. Some people, nope, that’s just them. I just watched the episode of Law & Order that Julia Roberts did. It’s Julia Roberts and it’s distracting.

On the contrary, I say it’s to his credit that he knows what he’s good at and sticks to it. There a reason Arnold never tried to do Shakespeare..
