That matchup comes down to 1 thing, the 49ers front 4 against the Chiefs pass blocking OL. If Mahomes has time he's going to pick the Niners zone apart. Sherman not moving with receivers and all that means they will be able to dictate favorable matchups downfield so once again, it literally comes down to pressure. If they don't get pressure or allow Mahomes to break the pocket he's going to have guys open. Exactly: and they don’t pressure QBs who can move. I have zero hopes. Lmao I have to feel like you are being a bit sarcastic being so passive about all this, like reverse psychology.

How good has Mahomes been this postseason... Got to give love to the Chiefs OL as well, because they have kept him clean and the only real f*** ups the Cheifs has had was dropped passes He has hit the hot streak at the right time and y'all can only hope the two weeks off don't cool him

Just not setting myself up for disappointment. I’m very aware the Niners #1 strength (pass rush) is straight-up nullified by an athletic QB. And the rest of the D is really good, but not enough to stop a locked-in Mahomes. I forget if I posted it somewhere here, on Twitter, or just said it to my buddies before the GB game, but I said “I’m at peace with whatever happens because KC is winning the Super Bowl.”

Jimmy G is not even driving the ship, imagine when he gets to that level and has weapons on the outside

Last year would have been his first before the injury. He knows the game X's and O's wise thanks to sitting behind Brady and learning but the execution will come with the reps he gets 19-5 record as the San Fran QB without really great weapons besides Kittle. He has room to grow and be great, I don't think 27 TDs will be his high mark. Alex Smith reached 26 in KC the year before he got injured which was his high mark

KC beat New England in Foxborough this year and they statistically had the best defense in the entire NFL. Other good defensive teams they beat this year include Baltimore, Chicago, Minnesota, the Broncos twice, and the Chargers twice.

I'm just going to watch and enjoy this one. In fact it's the first SB in forever where I can just watch without having some sort of anxiety about the Patriots winning or a rooting interest in seeing Peyton Manning win it. Probably the last time I just watched and chilled was Ravens/Niners.
The Niners are the better team here. I'm fine with KC winning though. They've waited 50 years to get back to the Super Bowl, and maybe Andy Reid can finally win the big one. I'm a bit baffled as to why there's a narrative that the Niners can't keep up offensively with the Chiefs when they actually outscored the Chiefs this season. They outscored the Saints in that wild shootout.

Apparently there are people in the NFL that think that, bleacher report has a thing up where multiple coaches and execs that were asked said the Chiefs would blow them away.

Eh, Niners have been slept on and called pretenders all year long. It’s not surprising at all.

The Niners kinda dragged into the playoffs, but that was quickly forgotten in the way they waxed the Vikings and Packers. I wish they had to play the Saints in a rematch, but Minnesota basically ruined the NFC playoffs by upsetting the Saints. Imagine if we had gotten Niners/Seahawks III to settle that score as well as Saints/Packers in a match up of 13-3 teams. Instead Minnesota fired their one shot and then got stomped the next round.
If I'm San Fran I would study the Colts/Chiefs game. Mahomes had a solid 321 yards in that game but Indy totally shut down the run and had 180 yards rushing themselves. The Colts had the ball for 37 minutes. Basically just do the same thing SF did against GB and pound Mostert (or Coleman and Breida) on the ground.

That's a decent theory until you realize 1 Mahomes played that game on a bad ankle. Eric Fisher didn't play, Tyreek Hill didn't play, Sammy Watkins played about 5 snaps. If you remove those guys the Chiefs are a far different team. Also that was early in the year before the defense gelled and understood Spagnuolo's scheme. Since then Mathieu became an all pro, Mike Pennel and Terrell Suggs were both added to the team and Frank Clark regained his Seattle form. It'd be really hard to mirror that game for a lot of factors.

As as neutral party (Browns/Jags fan) I think Chiefs win if their defense is good, but I'm rooting for the 49ers specifically because this is the year where it's become glaringly apparent that the Pats absolutely screwed up by not making Jimmy G the heir apparent to Brady and I would laugh so hard if he won the whole thing.
