I just wanted to get everyone's picks on their favourite show commentary, be it WWF, WCW, AWA, old, or recent, and if you want, why you like it.
I've got a top three, which, really they aren't stand out shows, there aren't any historic calls, but I find the commentary entertaining throughout. The chemistry in the commentary teams also comes across in some great back and forth banter.
1. WWF Breakdown: IYH (Jim Ross & Jerry Lawler)
2. WCW Starrcade '90 (Jim Ross & Paul Heyman)
3. ECW Heatwave 2000 (Joey Styles & Cyrus)
Another point is all these shows are fairly average as far as match quality, and with any other commentary team probably would have fallen completely flat for me. They are, however, some of my favourites to watch, largely due to the commentary.

Some of JR & Lawler’s commentary at Wrestlemania 18 is top notch. The bickering during Flair v Taker and some great calls in the Hogan Rock match come to mind.
And Gorilla & Heenan at Mania 8 are also phenomenal.

Heyman and JR had a lot of strong work, especially during the Invasion, but I always really loved their energy at Wrestlemania 17. The former feels damn excited doing a major show again, and Ross seems energized having someone new to play off of.

Survivor Series 1991 Royal Rumble 1992 Wrestlemania 8
These three with Bobby and Gorilla are absolutely phenomenal. Its crazy to think so little PPV's were called by BH/GH as a duo, these three and WM 7 are the only 4 I believe?

All of the WCW commentary at Bash At The Beach 1996 is magnificent. They’re clearly biased, but in storyline they have to be because their livelihood could be at stake. Dusty’s cheering them on, he’s all “who be bad now!” And Heenan doesn’t trust Hogan, but Dusty has faith that team WCW is gonna clean house. So when Hogan legdrops Savage, Dusty’s “what the hell?!?” has so much emotion, and Tony’s heartbroken. He tells Hogan to go to hell with a very defeated tone. Amazing performances from that trio.

Its crazy to think so little PPV's were called by BH/GH as a duo, these three and WM 7 are the only 4 I believe? I always think that they called more PPVs together than they did. I think it’s down to them having such a close association along with their weekly work on Challenge. Add another here for Rumble 92; not only was Heenan at the top of his game but his emotional investment in the match added another level to it. Monsoon was the perfect foil that night, getting Bobby riled up and taking pleasure at his anxiety. When Flair wins, Heenan’s ‘YES! YES! YES YES YES!’ is the perfect release of his built up tension. Good memories.

Royal rumble 1992 and wrestle mania 8 are like others have said just superb commentary. Heenan and monsoon are cooking with gas on these two shows.
"What the hell, use the bell"
" areba McEntire" Tito Santana's sister
"Not fair to flair"
"It's not a kilt it's a skirt"
"The centrefold on the big screen"
There are just so many quotable lines from just those two shows.
Also not commentary but some of the prime time wrestling stuff heenan and monsoon is again gold.

This pretty much begins and ends with Rumble ‘92. Not even just the Rumble but the whole show.

This past Wrestle Kingdom was one of the best showings by a commentary team, particularly for Liger's retirement and for the big title matches.
Having someone like Chris Charlton who is so knowledgeable on the history and able to present it in an easy to understand way adds so much to the product.

“Oh, thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We got a new heavyweight champion of the world! The first undefeated man in the history of this sport to ever win the World Championship, and have a record of 107, 108 ... who cares?! There's zero on the other side! We've got a new champion! Listen to this! Wow.”

"It's time for 'The Match Made In Hell'" "....the wedding's next?" From Summerslam '91 to Wrestlemania 8, Gorilla & Bobby were damm near untouchable.

"It's time for 'The Match Made In Hell'" "....the wedding's next?" Piper was great at that show too, especially his insane marking for Bret and Virgil, and his back-and-forth with Heenan: Piper: Come on Bret! You've got nothing to lose and everything to gain! Heenan: What about Perfect? He's got nothing to gain and everything to lose! Piper: Yeah, but I want him to!
