Someone wondered this on Twitter, and it made me wonder if the game show format would work on a streaming platform like Netflix or Hulu.

It would but it would have to be damn entertaining to keep people watching. They'd have to have an interesting contestant line-up to make you want to watch. Maybe celebrities for example.
I wouldn't watch for Phil down the block who works as an assistant manager for Champs but I'd watch for Dave East who's using his wins for a charity that his daughter choose. Like, you can't get me to care about Kimberly who's a dentist but I can care about SZA.

Maybe... I don't think it'd work in Bingable format like Netflix tends to do.
But having a weekly/biweekly release could easily still work.

The only problem is that outside of really memorable contestants, game shows dont have that much rewatch value as opposed to other shows/movies, since once you've seen the show you know who's going to win and everything (you can say the same thing about wrestling, but at least there you can rewatch for the match itself).

Netflix has done interactive content with Black Mirror, Minecraft and that Bear Grylls thing.
Maybe they could do a play along thing .. no prizes, just a bit of fun. Like when you watch a quiz show.

Hasn’t Netflix tried this before? Could have sworn they taped a seasons worth of a show and just dropped a new episode every day.

I think it would work with something like family feud. Since its not really so much about the winner but the crazy comedy answers on the journey there. Of course some of the yelling at the TV your answer would be lost, but family feud has so many episodes they can repeat its pretty unlikely by the time it rolls back around you would remember.

I’m pretty sure by watching a ton of episodes in a row would make it even more glaringly obvious when they’re shouting the jokes instead of the real answers. And how often penis is said and Steve Harvey can’t believe it!!!!!
