I'm torn. I have a few hundred figures. I just bought a huge free standing shelf for them to take out of the packages. I take like 1 out every other day. My Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead ones which are my favs will prob stay packaged forever.

Some I've opened, some i've kept in box. I have some that you'd think you'd keep as mint but I've opened. I'm on the fence. Since I post figures and whatnot on IG, like to open stuff and fiddle around with them. But there are some figures that I haven't opened yet that I'm leaning on opening for different reasons. One is that the clam shell took some unexpected damage or started to yellow. And depending on the figure manufacture, they may not have held up with joint pins and some plastic parts.
I have an DC Direct Afro Samurai hanging on my wall that due to be opened any day.

I just bought a Dragon Quest III Erdrick and Nier Automata 2B Bring arts action figures while in Japan. Those guys are $85 dollars a piece! I want to display them, but the cost has me weary.

When you actually take them out of the packaging it isn't an easy job either. Took a couple more out tonight. It is a good thing though they're packaged in so tight.

Toys are meant to be played with or display proudly on a stand.

Depends on the box and toy. For example, even if they’re expensive I’ve taken every skeletor I’ve gotten from Super 7 And Mondo out of the box. Clamshell and blister packs almost always suck, so those are discarded too. However, Neca boxes are practically works of art and almost every toy I’ve gotten from them has remained in the box.

I would not open a 80s Laser Skeletor or Laser HM unless the card was destroyed

90% of the time I open it up, but some things like Pop Vinyls just look better boxed.
I've also found myself going back and buying carded versions of the TMNT and WWF figures I opened as a kid.

Most of them I take out of the box.
I've got some of the recent G1 re-issue Transfromers from Walmart, and those, I've put back in the box after fiddling with. But that's because for those, the box is half the reason I bought them. Have a re-issue of Bumblebee and Soundwaves cassettes that I've left unopened, because they are on cards.
Recently got into Mythic Legions and love how they do it. They are "Collector Friendly" boxes. Little tab on the back, you can slide the card back off and they are tied down with ties that you can take off and put back on.

Well, if you can afford it, just get one to play with and another to collect.
I have boxed original ECW figures that will never see outside of the box and that's because I lost my Taz figure long ago and wish I could get another sealed in box.
