I bought Summerslam for this match and, while petty, will always appreciate Shawn making this match 1000% more entertaining than it otherwise would have been

Unprofessional, sure. Did it make the match more entertaining? Absolutely.

Unprofessional but the match would've been boring without it.

Unprofessional but the match would've been boring without it. Pretty much. Shawn channeling his most over the top Mr. Perfect is pretty much the only way this match would have been anything other than a complete trainwreck. Hogan was almost entirely broken down at this point... his spine hadn't been reinforced by a metal rod yet... but it was almost there. That said if he toned it down slightly (for instance instead of running around in a circle before the leg drop) I don't think as many people would even have realized he was taking the piss honestly.

First time in ages that watching a Hogan match didn't bore me, so I approved of this moment.

That said if he toned it down slightly (for instance instead of running around in a circle before the leg drop) I don't think as many people would even have realized he was taking the piss honestly. That's the key is that while it was unprofessional I don't think it actually made Hogan look bad. I watched it with my brother who was a former diehard and at no point did he think it was anything other than a typical match because he was engrossed in the story. I doubt if you showed it to any casuals they would see it as anything out of the ordinary from usual wrestling wackiness. At this point Hogan was broken down so the only legitimately entertaining option is to make his offense look like it is coming from the powerhouse everyone wants rather than the reality of who he was at the time.

Yes. 100%. Sometimes, I like my wrestling to be a little ridiculous.

Yep. For a few reasons too.
- I didn't like Hogan and loved HBK. - The entire feud was comedic with HBK's skits and jokes. I couldn't take the match seriously even before it happened. - HBK's selling made the match more entertaining compared to if he hadn't sold. - His selling is the most memorable part of the match. Without that nothing stands out.
I loved it.

That was the first times in present times I've watched wrestling when I thought HBK was the absolute best: the whole tag match and heel turn, teasing Bret Hart interrupting him in Canada and those backstage parodies of Hogan. e: Also, loved the overselling and the match itself. Everyone in the internets were freakin' asking for more of that stuff, but after Summerslam... it all just stopped. We got Chris Masters of the world instead and dat unstoppable John Cena making a fool out of Kurt Angle.

It's a Hogan match, it's supposed to be over the top nonsense. Look at what happens when his matches are normal (anyone remember a single thing from his match with Orton? exactly).

Unprofessional but I didn't mind as that's how heel HBK sold for his foes, especially if they were bigger than him.

Given it was Hogan & Hogan had been his primadonna self the whole way, I don't blame Michaels for acting like every move was like the Touch of Death.

The only unprofessional part was when Michaels danced around the ring for 10 seconds after the Big Boot to set up the Leg Drop. Everything else was classic "Hogan beats up loudmouth heel".
