Honestly if you want to have a prominent character with an Eevee in the anime I'd just do a main continuity version of Risa from Power of Us. She's a really fun character and you could pretty easily adapt her character arc to more of an ongoing series thing.
Sidenote Power of Us is almost definitely the best Pokemon movie. Totally recommend it.

The new stuff is a slight improvement but I'd rather a rotating protagonist each time or at least something more akin to the original Manga series.

So in all the more, "Erm, what?" news, this week Goh caught... {Spoiler}Drowzee.
... Also Suicune. Honestly in general Goh's kind of just such a Mary Sue that I'm barely even surprised by it at this point.

Not following the show at all but what’s Goh done so far? Mostly caught a shit-ton of Pokemon, largely with absolutely no effort. To date he's caught 78 distinct Pokemon despite only having just debuted in the current season, while by comparison in the entire run of the show Ash has only gotten 100. A particular highlight besides this one is that he previously caught Eternatus. Episodes pretty routinely just sideline the plot to just focus on him going around catching random Pokemon for no real reason actually related to the narrative, to the point that a lot of the actual battles have been very short and anticlimactic to accomodate this. Basically they just transplanted the mechanics of Pokemon Go into the show without any regard whatsoever for how much of a complete storybreaker it is narratively. Also he seems very likely to end up with all three Galar starters because as it is he already has two of them and Ash has a full team while Goh barely uses anything he catches.

I can see how that would be boring to watch, although I’m also kind of happy that a main character is finally trying to catch as many Pokémon as possible, seeing as that was the original tag line for the whole franchise and Ash never seemed inclined to do it. Still doesn’t really inspire me to start watching again, though.

So if Ash caught all the Pokemon it would be cool, but when someone else does it, it's a big deal?

Goh would actually be interesting if he actually had something of a character besides wanting to catch Mew.
Brock wanted to breed and then become a Doctor, Misty wanted to become a Master of Water Type. Dawn, May and Serena each participated in contests. Iris was in training to become a Dragon Master. Clemont was an inventor and Cilan was a Connoisseur.

Not following the show at all but what’s Goh done so far? Been a terrible Pokemon trainer. Like, his Grookey has been absolutely the worst starter in series history. It's only done one move (Branch Poke) in one episode in its entire run, and has generally been a source of conflict in many episodes, although Goh has spent more instances yelling at other trainers than training Grookey to not misbehave. So if Ash caught all the Pokemon it would be cool, but when someone else does it, it's a big deal? The problem is, Goh is meant to represent the Pokemon GO experience of just randomly chucking balls at anything that moves. At first, it seemed cool to have someone devoted to filling the 'Dex instead of someone who just could go "well, I ended up catching it, so I'll use it, I guess" depending on the showrunner. The problem is, people had expectations that Goh would actually use said Pokemon instead of hoarding them in a research facility in Viridian City, so combined with Goh's poor battling techniques, he also has no real emotional attachments to the creatures he catches. And bear in mind, his ultimate goal is to catch Mew.

So Ash/Satoshi is now a playable character, I wonder if this means he is leaving the anime if he's being folded into the video games?

Curious how they're going to differentiate Ash from Red if they do end up recursively bringing him into the games. Laziest but simplest option would be a "Red was Ash all along" or vise versa.
Also would never happen, but I'd still love to see a game where the big reveal is that the professor is actually Ash or Gary, just as old as they nominally should be.

They have purposefully designed Red to be stoic to the point where he literally chooses not to speak and lets his Pokemon "talk" for him, whereas Ash is a vocal and expressive character. No way you can merge them into the same.
