The Heenan line made sense but was the wrong thing to say. Better would have been some version of "I hate this guy but have never been happier to see him".
Bret Hart turning was a pretty big deal to me as a kid in 97.

Bret Hart turning was a pretty big deal to me as a kid in 97. Honestly, it would've been hella funny if the one time Heenan sided with the Hulkster it was when he turned. Then Heenan gets pissed because it's like he can't win when it comes to Hogan.

I don't believe Barry Windham was a heel before Turning on Lex, At least he never was in Crockett's NWA.
Manny Fernandez turning heel to join Paul Jones was my first heart break in wrestling. He was my first favorite wrestler. He was a face his entire Crockett run up until then.

Rick Martel's on Tito Santana was well-done. He never shook that tag title loss, got injured in June, and an errant Tito forearm at the next WM was the last straw.
So well done that - for years - any battle royal or Royal Rumble they were in together, they'd tear into one another like life-long enemies.

Even if his run sucked after, Tatanka's heel turn in 1994 is still one of the best swerves ever.

How about a long time heel best face turn I’d go with Jimmy Hart
