What kinda struck me was how much of that stuff was from the same sections of the roster, namely SmackDown’s IC/Tag level guys... The IC Champion, his mate, his likely next challenger, HIS mate with the guitar, the Tag Champions, one of their likely next challengers (and it’s not like his partner did much better), a dude from another team... That’s eight of the 13 Lesnar threw out. The other five being two US level guys from RAW, someone below them, an upper-mid NXT guy and a surprise legend.

Well Vince you did it. You finally killed the Royal Rumble for me. What the f*** was that? NOBODY wanted to see Brock in there for half hour tossing guys out like that. Hell nobody want to see Brock in the damn match in the first place. Not to mention how dirty you did Kofi. You proved you couldn’t give less of a shit about Kofi if you tried.
Also really? f***ing Charlotte?? That should have been Baslers match. But god forbid we don’t bow down to the queen.
RIP Royal Rumble 1988-2020

I felt bad for Nakamura 2 years ago winning the thing then this year lasting like 10 seconds Yeah they usually don’t make former winners look this bad in Rumbles except Nakamura and the year Sheamus was eliminated by Heath Slater in like 3 seconds.

Speaking as a non-regular WWE watcher...yeah, the men's rumble was awful. Caveats I mentioned in the PPV thread: the Drew/Brock story was done well, including paying off the whole "Ricochet needs to get his heat back for Brock kicking him in the nuts" part, and helped get Drew over big, and Edge's return is impressive for obvious reasons. Those parts keep it from being some kind of all time awful Rumble. But man, what a slog. Totally get what they were going for with Lesnar, but it was at the expense of so many viable people on the roster. There were guys who might present really interesting matchups for Brock in Big E, Cesaro, and Keith Lee; guys like Shinsuke who's, you know, your @#$%ing IC champion; and then there was how dirty they did Kofi. Really don't want to hear how WWE "has a plan" or whatever for anybody, they took Kofi, gave him the belt, then treated him like an afterthought and want you to remember he's not a main eventer anymore. Awful, awful, awful. Then the second half started and...it was bleh. One upside is that there were mostly strong names in it, a solid number of guys who felt like legitimate possible winners going in, but the eliminations and spots were so uneven, so rapid at times, so anticlimactic that almost none of it registered with me. Plus it fell back into the "let's all sleep in the corner every time a new guy comes in!" formula, complete with people napping outside the ring because they were gassed, and I hate hate hate hate hate that in a match where the entire point is supposed to be "leaving the ring should only be for exceptional circumstances, and for shit's sake, at least make it look like you're trying to eliminate one another!" The Rumble is one of two PPVs a year that casuals will check out. Speaking as a non-WWE viewer, and someone who watched the match and thus fits that category, all I can say is that this match made most of their roster, both before and after the Brock elimination, look like shit. I don't see any reason to care about any of these guys outside of McIntyre, Brock, and Edge. WWE M.O has bee wasting guys for the TOP DAWGS for YEARS now. Even before Roman. But it just keeps getting worse since Roman. The whole builds to Roman vs Brock were that too. This rumble just dropped all pretenses and straight up spelled out to you who is worthless and who isnt.

Wow surprised by some of the posts here. I thought the Men’s Rumble was tremendous. I’d go 4.5 stars if I was rating it. Lesnar made the first half interesting, unique and entertaining. And it needed to start going a little “long” to get that reaction and effect when McIntyre eliminated him.

Brock ruins everything he's part of. (Yep, still mad about Ambrose).
I'm pleased they're trying something new with Drew, but that doesn't negate that such a large period of the Rumble was a waste of time/effort/people who aren't Lesnar.

The thing that killed me most was somehow Ziggler avoided death by Lesnar and he got to come in after it and actually have a halfway decent run in it....
Dolph freaking Ziggler isn't the one you feed to Lesnar? He deserves a better run in the rumble than guys like Morrison, Big E, Kofi, Rowan, hell, over half the people that were fed to the almighty Lesnar?

I'm kind of curious how down to the wire the booking for this match was, because it obviously was still being worked on during the show itself given how the panel was stressing Buddy Murphy being in the match and then he wasn't.

I thought it was awesome. Technically not as good as women's one, but interesting and' had lots of surprising moments. Better than in last couple years for sure. / I freakin' loved Lesnar's perfomance. \m/

I think the fact it was Brock doing it sort of ruined it to me because I'm just sick of him.
If it was some new fresh heel that they booked to totally dominate the Rumble in a star making performance then maybe i'd enjoy it more but I've had more than enough now of Brock being booked to look effortlessly miles above everyone else on the roster. It's been 6 years now of them making the vast majority of the roster look like shit for Brock. Can we please move on.
I actually thought when we finally did get a Royal Rumble it was nothing special although it was nice to see Edge again and he looked great.
1999 and 2015 are still the worst though.

I thought both Rumbles sucked ass with hardly anybody coming out of them looking good. I actually thought the women's actually might have been worse. Brock burying everyone sucked but at least it had Edge and a winner I liked. Women's had a bad winner and was just super boring.

I wish it'd been a 40 man Rumble. The Brock part still would've mostly sucked, but those 10 extra spots for guys like Murphy, Ali, and others would've been nice.

Brock victims
2 - Elias - I was OK with this bit as it was a shoutout to Elias doing the same last year, so a bit of Rumble karma. Complete with guitar shot. 3 - Rowan - Dont get the point in his super push if this is him, but meh, its Erick Rowan. 4 - Robert Roode - Thought he was going to do a Bossman 2000, instead he ran in and got merked. Clearly a henchman goon on Smackdown rather than potential now. 5 - John Morrison - SQUASHED. I didn't get this. Punishment for something? 6 - Kofi. Such an afterthought. 7 - Rey. Such an afterthought. 8 - Big E. Man he's going to be pissed. These are people you'd think would get protected but I can sort of see the New Day being the Hardys in 2002 in this spot. 9 - Cesaro - Pointless and hurt him. 10 - Shelton - A comedy segment but this is wearing a bit thin by this point. 11 - Nakamura - The f***ing IC f***ing Champ, with in built storylines with others in the Rumble, treated worse than an SD Jones. This was AWFUL. 12 - MVP. Whats the point in the nostalgia return if its a 10 second squash? 13 - Keith Lee - Got to last for a few minutes before getting the idiot ball and ignoring Brock so he could eliminate him. 14 - Braun. Treated like a goober. Hated this.
So like with the Nexus in 2011, its not the theory but the going way too long. And you shouldn't be squashing Nakamura or Morrison this early. Move Roode, Morrison, Nakamura, MVP, Keith Lee and Braun to post-Drew, you can have Ricochet entering 8th or 9th and lasting the 90 secs before Drew comes in and its all a bit more manageable. More so if we just ignore Shelton...

I didn't mind it. I was entertained for the most part.
And seeing how emotional Drew was, and how well received it was by the crowd made me happy for the guy.
Also f***ing Edge returned! C'mon.

Yeah, I had fun watching it partially because I was doing a random number game and I happened to get Brock so I was taking in all the salt before Drew ruined it all for me. There were missteps, sure, but nothing extremely awful that couldn’t be undone with good booking. Like, to rank it near 2015 sort of undercuts why 2015 was a goddamn awful Rumble.

I’d like to imagine that if it was someone other than Brock (who we’re all sick of, really), we’d have a different opinion. Say, it was the Fiend instead getting the “eliminating everyone” spot.

Thanks for making it easy by picking the one piece of crap that's worse than Lesnar. At least I can watch a Lesnar match without getting a migraine.

Honestly, Rowan was probably the most egregious one. I don't consider myself a huge fan of the guy, but it was really stupid given that they've spent weeks upon weeks building him as a terror only to be housed by Brock because lord knows they haven't made Brock enough of a big bad

I was watching this away from the boards with my two younger brothers, who are kind of aware with the modern stuff but aren’t as hardcore on it as me... They’re in agreement with most of you (and me) that the Lesnar stuff went too long by about... maybe six people? But they enjoyed the rest of the match from there. They enjoyed the women’s Rumble too for what it’s worth, as they don’t really have any strong opinions on Flair one way or the other. Had they cut the Lesnar stuff down by a few guys and been more careful about *who* he ran over, it would have been perfectly fine

I thought people could have lasted a bit longer before Brock eliminated them but I liked it. The only other complaint is there was never a HUGE amount of people in the ring which is always fun but it was fine.
