The camera work on that spear was unforgivable. Like what the hell were they thinking. Maybe Edge went too quick but then that just shows how over produced the show is.

I was watching with some non-fans at our Rumble party and one of my friends was complaining of feeling motion sickness with the camera cuts.

My wife counted 36 camera cuts in one minute towards the end of the Rumble. And that was after we’d noticed it and it had slowed down.
Maybe a cat was walking across the keyboard that selects the cameras?

I go months or even years at a time without watching WWE events in full and each time I forget how bad the camera work is. Last night it was so bad at points during the men's Rumble that it was literally tricking my brain into thinking that my feed was glitching and skipping ahead, even though that obviously wasn't possible. I can only assume that they just start racking up lines of speed in the production truck towards the end of the show to see them through because that's the only excuse I can think of.
Still, it made me appreciate AEW's camera work more.

To the group I was with, I was literally praising them for making crowds look big regardless of how many people were actually there at the time. How the f*** do you miss Edge’s first spear in 9 years?! HOW?! That’s....HOW?! The same way you miss AJ Styles debuting by zooming in on a confused Roman. It was rather polite of them to get the camera off Lacey’s daughter when she starting picking her nose. Royal Rumble and WWE production crew missing improtant camera shots - name a more iconic duo.

The infamous AJ Styles debut was bad enough. Last night was unforgivable. Missing Edge’s first in-ring action after a career ending injury is absolutely ridiculous.
They need to make a change. The direction is terrible and has been for a while.

Still, it made me appreciate AEW's camera work more. I had the same feeling. This is the first WWE show I sat down and watched in full since Wrestlemania and there were times there were so many rapid cuts that it looked unnatural. It reminded me of back in the day when they had to fit the 4 hour WrestleManias on a 3 hour VHS tape and they would just slice and cut the unimportant undercard matches to bits. They made a live show look like a post production hack job. Well done guys.

Are we sure he didn’t botch that first spear or they were worried he might because of rings rust?

Are we sure he didn’t botch that first spear or they were worried he might because of rings rust? Since they literally cut as he was about to hit the spear, I have zero idea how they could have figured he botched it in that quick a time.

Are we sure he didn’t botch that first spear or they were worried he might because of rings rust? By that measure they should just cut for each move, just in case. Actually, no, don't give them any ideas.

See, at least I could see what they were going for, they just needed to cut away at the right moment to make it work. THAT on the other hand? Just keep it at the hard cam for a few more seconds. Then you can do all the crowd cutting gymnastics you want to. Because no one has ever told them you can have a camera shooting the crowd and one shooting the ring. If a fan does something you wanna keep, you can insert it into packages later rather than the other way around. They want fan “moments” all the time. They haven’t gotten one in years. Gotta get that crowd shot! Why can't they work the camera to the the wrestler anymore is utterly stupid.

First they cut away during his pose and missed the fireworks going off behind him. Then he's making his way to the ring and you have all the different angles of the ring to choose from. He's going up the steps. You're glancing around options until you see THIS shot and think THAT is the one you're going for at that EXACT moment. What the f*** is wrong with you?!

I know that when they do big stunts they don’t always show them from a good angle or miss them and then replay them just in case something goes wrong so I thought maybe that could be the case here. I don’t know why I was trying to play devils advocate for a company that time after time have showed their incompetence on things like this.

The camera was really weird and wobbly every time it shot someone getting to the ring on that angle.
