December 1983 - Hulkamania begins April 2001 - WCW folds. Probably the most memorable era of professional wrestling where you saw the business change multiple times, some of the biggest names of all time and biggest moments- roughly 17 years and 4 months. Since the Monday Night Wars ended, it's been about 22 years, and not much has changed in those last 22.What do you mean exactly by not much has changed? WWE today looks vastly different than it did when it comes to talent and production values. If anything, the post Monday Night Wars was the start of the never-ending downturn as far as creativity(or lack thereof) goes. Here's something scary for ya. In 2001, 1979 WWF was considered ancient. Now where just as far away from then(if not further) than 2001 was to 1979.

If anything, the post Monday Night Wars was the start of the never-ending downturn as far as creativity(or lack thereof) goes. I was referring to the creativity, specifically the slow turnaround when it comes to all that occured. From 1983 to 2001, you have the era of Hulkamania, The New Generation and the Attitude Era. Since then there's been the Ruthless Aggression/Cena Era and essentially the Roman/Brock Era.

Since the Monday Night Wars ended, it's been about 22 years, and not much has changed in those last 22. Today, Roman Reigns's current title run has been about three-quarters as long as the total time between the day Stone Cold first won the WWE Title and the day he last held it. Austin's first WWE Title reign of course began at WrestleMania 14, which took place on March 29, 1998. Austin's final reign with the WWE Title ended when Chris Jericho beat him at Vengeance in 2001, becoming the Undisputed Champion. That happened on December 9, 2001. March 29, 1998 until December 9, 2001 was 1,351 days. Roman's current reign began August 30, 2020. Today, June 4, 2023, is day 1,008, which is 74.6% of 1,351.

When I joined this board in 2005, TNA Impact was still on FSN.

At 392 days and counting, Gunther's IC title reign is longer than all 9 of Chris Jericho's title reigns. He's also 22 days away from surpassing Randy "Macho Man" Savage's lone reign, and 62 days away from surpassing the current record holder for the longest title reign, Honky Tonk Man.

Someone who was a Freshman in highschool when Roman’s title Run began in August of 2020 will be a Senior if it goes past Summerslam, and would be a month or so away from graduating if it goes till Mania

Nitro was on the air from September 4, 1995, until March 26, 2001. That is, the entire Monday Night Wars era lasted 2,030 days.
AEW’s first show (the first Double or Nothing) was on May 25, 2019, 1,507 days ago. By then end of 2024, AEW will have been around for longer than the Monday Night Wars lasted.

The time between the Montreal Screwjob and Vince vs Bret at WM 26 was like 12 and a half Years. The time between HBK "retiring" at WM 26 and today is over 13 Years. Yet the first example feels probably way longer

FWIW, the Monday Night War is only a fraction of the overall war between the WWF and NWA/WCW. That began more than a decade earlier.

FWIW, the Monday Night War is only a fraction of the overall war between the WWF and NWA/WCW. That began more than a decade earlier. The thing that made me think of the comparison in the first place was because AEW’s main stories feel a bit stale, and are comprised essentially of people that either were the top guys when the company started (The Elite, Moxley, Jericho, even MJF was heavily featured from the start) and/or guys that headlined WWE tv for years (Punk, Danielson, even Adam Cole ran NXT for years), with guys like Wardlow, Darby, Starks, etc seemingly just spinning their wheels. Which can pretty easily lend itself to a comparison to WCW specifically during the MNW. So the unstated reason that I made the comparison was essentially to say that AEW isn’t the new kid on the block anymore, and they need to start making new top stars rather than just relying on the guys that have always been there.

For those who consider the Attitude Era proper between Wrestlemania XIV to X-7, Roman Reigns Universal Title reign will surpass that provided he retains at this year's Summerslam. It's already longer than Pedro Morales' 1,027 day WWWF championship reign.
On a sad note, his title reign is also longer than JFK's time as US President.

The three longest tenured current full time Superstars are Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler and The Miz. Well, Randy isn’t full time anymore even if he comes back, and I’m not even sure if Dolph is full time any more, guess it’s Miz, Kofi and Natalya now.

If Roman Reigns holds the Universal title till WrestleMania, he'll be 1,315 days.
Just as a comparison, between the time Stone Cold Steve Austin won the title at WrestleMania 14 for the first time and losing the title at Vengeance for the final time, that entire span was 1,351 days.

The Finn Balor/Seth Rollins feud.
I did not realize 7 years had passed. I sat down and thought about how much had changed and then compared it to if Shawn/Vader met in 96 and 03 or if Edge fought Cena in 06 and 13.

Or even The Mega Powers meeting The Megabucks in 1995 when the company was struggling to get away from the stars of yesteryear.
