It appears the plug has been pulled on Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. There was nothing to represent that line or the franchise in general at Toy Fair this past weekend, and according to Toy News International, a new take on the franchise will be unveiled around spring of 2020, Playmates will continue to produce the toyline toynewsi.com/216-35727

How are kids supposed to get attached to a show or toy line when they keep rebooting it this quickly?

How are kids supposed to get attached to a show or toylike when they keep rebooting it this quickly? Here in Japan, most kids shows are rebooted yearly and have been for decades.

Rise was largely considered a flop anyway.

Aww, I was starting to really enjoy Rises. It never reached the level of the 2012 or Fox Kids cartoon for me (or the Archie comic or 1990 movie), but Rises had fun toony animation, cool monster designs and a really funny Donatello. It was light years ahead of Next Mutation, give it that.

How's about they put them on the shelf for a while and try something new for a change?
Rise was pretty bad as it was like Twit Titans in most episodes

It'd be nice to say "hope they take a break for a bit" but there's no money to be had in that. Rise was largely considered a flop anyway. I've fallen behind on my TMNT lore the last few years, but I had zero idea this was how it was going. I tuned out while people were largely defending it.......... guess they changed their tune?

It has it's fans, but finding anyone to talk about it online is pretty scarse. The biggest representation of the TMNT community, The Technodrome.com forums, didn't take to it it at all, certainly not compared to 2012 talk, which was often very lively. The IDW comics have gotten far more traction there as far as discussion goes. Rise was not aimed at them specifically, and a lot of us are in our 30s/40s. Wasn't much of a fan of it, but TMNT 2012 certainly had widespread demo appeal across the board.

Rise got royally f***ed over. It was a great looking show that was really starting to find itself as a show.

Never watched or put on for my kids, it looked like crap to me so I never even gave it a chance. Certainly doesn't help that it had to follow the incredible 2012 series. Hopefully they can find better luck with the next incarnation.

So would it be considered racist if April was made white again?
Not gonna lie I kinda want it happen because I know someone will get upset and start crap over it because it'll be some kind of step back for diversity or something like that.

They were the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in the 1980s. I'd like to see the franchise update to 2020 and feature the Mid-Life Crisis Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Yes, it's a sillier cartoon, but the point is that these are the youngest takes on the turtles yet. They're still kids. They're still learning to be heroes. The series does build on the characters and develops on them, to the point that they do mature just enough. Also, yeah, there's gonna be stuff about memes and other things. It's 2020, that's how kids are. We all grew up on silly stuff like that.

Most people defended it until the show actually released. Yeh,not good.Forced humour, the animation is jumpy, the art style..not pleasing and it has no consistent plotline The only episode I saw and enjoyed was the wrestling one.

They were also teens in the 2012 TNMT It was silly, fun, they acted like teens. They still had good storytelling and deep character moments, which this one seriously lack. Teens arent watching this one so you can't justify it is a reflection of teens. At most it is an old man picture of what teens are

I was never going to give it a shot after they changed the leader of the team. Anyone other than Leo calling the shots just doesn’t work for me.
I definitely thought the animation looked better than the 2012 series at least. And the voice cast is great.
