I just read that apparently it was Kurt Angle’s idea to do Taker/AJ, after Taker originally wanted to try and have a better match with Goldberg.
Thank god for Kurt.
Though I wonder how a Taker/Goldberg match filmed like this could have turned out.

If there's one thing I do know, it's that with AJ out of the picture, Samoa Joe can finally take care of Wendy.

Rewatching the match on the livestream now and I kind of forgot Gallows got chucked off a building and Anderson was still up there when the place went up in flames. So the whole OC is dead.

And then while they're both just standing there, out of nowhere Marty Jannetty just rushes past them and lunges through the window glass.

I can't remember where I heard it, but someone called it: IN YOUR HOUSE: WrestleMania
I will say this: this match had turned Undertaker's record in "first-time gimmick matches" into a winning record at 7-6 (depending if you count the Coffin or Casket Match first)
Body Bag Match (5/91): Loss to Ultimate Warrior (not typically seen on TV, they had many of these at House Shows throughout the year, but the first one on record is May 1991 (0-1)
Coffin/Casket Match (11/92): Defeated Kamala* *Technically, the first Casket Match[es] took place in July 1991, with Taker losing to Ultimate Warrior, but one could argue the distinction between Coffin & Casket technically. This technically is listed as happening at WrestleFest 1991, but isn't on the current Network version of the event, listed as occurring on 7/14/91, then mostly Body Bag Matches from then on, save for a Dark Casket Match at an August '91 TV taping, then mostly throughout September '91, Taker would feud with Sid Justice on House Shows, and lost every Casket Match he faced Justice in from 8/25/91 to 9/28/91, a record SEVEN Casket Matches, so I'm counting this as a loss (0-2)*
"Rest In Peace" Match (8/93): Defeated Giant Gonzales (technically, no real gimmick to this match, so...1-2)
Boiler Room Brawl (8/96): Loss to Mankind (1-3)
Buried Alive Match (10/96): Defeated Mankind (but ended up buried anyway) (2-3)
Armageddon Rules Match (12/96): Defeated The Executioner* *Another exception, because the Armageddon Rules Match was tested out at November '96 House Shows, in a Tag Team Format, with Taker & HBK defeating Goldust & Mankind, so I guess this exception doesn't matter in the slightest* (3-3)
Hell In A Cell (10/97): Loss to Shawn Michaels (3-4)
Inferno Match (4/98) Defeated Kane (4-4)
Biker Chain Match (10/03): Loss to Brock Lesnar (4-5)
Concrete Crypt Match (6/04): Defeated The Dudley Boys (Handicap Match) (5-5)
Last Ride Match (10/04): Loss to JBL (worth noting that this was Undertaker's 3rd consecutive yearly loss in the No Mercy main events) (5-6)
Punjabi Prison Match (7/06): Defeated Big Show (6-6)
Boneyard Match (4/20): Defeated AJ Styles (7-6)
Hopefully, you found this informative. My apologies if someone covered this already.

Let's be real, they were dead on arrival. I loved this match. They finally figured out that merging Deadman Taker with American Badass Taker would allow him to play to all his best strengths, promos and gimmicky shit.

POST-CREDITS SCENE:
A sobbing Karl Anderson is on his knees by AJ Style's grave. The music slowly turns ominous as Karl raises his head with a look of determined fury on his face. Karl gets up and walks over to the car the OG came in on, and out of the passenger seat pulls out their insurance policy: THE URN.
As the ominous music plays on, Karl begins an incantation to summon THE FAKE UNDERTAKER FROM SUMMERSLAM 1994

To me, the boneyard match was the best part of WrestleMania 36 and I won't forget this "match" for a very long time.

It was fun
When he retires i want him to go up in smoke (because he wants to , not cuz he was buried) and somehow the smoke ends up back in the urn , it should def be super natural like when he died at Rumble '94.
This would emphasize his powers has left him , he cannot give any more - he is spent & he has no choice but to join Bearer in kayfab
