That series was absolutely fantastic. Stuff like that and the ruthless aggression series make the Network worth having.
As for 'Taker, as a fan, I can only say thank you for 30 years of entertainment. It's weird/sad thinking he's really done, but to see the man walk away, finally happy and on his own terms is pretty damn cool.

Hot take: "The Last Ride" was better than "The Last Dance" In five episodes, I learned more about Mark Calaway the man and The Undertaker the wrestler, and got more honest behind-the-scenes footage I never thought I'd see, than I learned about Michael Jordan the man and the basketball player in 10 hours of "The Last Dance." See you in the Hall, Mark. And if it’s next year, give him the whole two hours. No kidding, just have people come out and tell Taker stories for two hours, have Vince induct and let him have a speech for the ages. I've felt this for a few years now. Whenever it comes time to induct The Undertaker into the Hall of Fame, he should be the sole inductee. It should be his night. Do you know when they plan on doing the advertised Post-Mortem interview with AJ Styles? Or has that been confirmed as cancelled/postponed? I was surprised (I don't know if surprised is really the right word) at how much of the first half of the final episode was a celebration of AJ Styles. It shows how much WWE admires him and how much Undertaker respects him that a good portion of the final episode of "The Last Ride" was dedicated to talking heads showering Styles with effusive praise, about what an amazing performer he is, and how he alone had to be the last guy Undertaker faced before riding off into the sunset (or moonlight). None of his other "final" opponents really got that sort of praise. He'd talk up Roman Reigns as the future of the business or discuss the legendary matches he'd had with Triple H or Shawn Michaels or what a moment it would be to face Goldberg, but nobody got the kind of talk that Styles got, where it was everyone, from Triple H to his own wife just glowing about AJ Styles' ability in the ring and how he could get that one last great match that Undertaker's been looking for.

Yeah, I had the same thought. Can't say I was surprised by "the big reveal" , since the writing was on the wall. When a guy who spent 3 decades with a death grip (no pun intended) on kayfabe agreed to a 5 part documentary and was suddenly doing out of character interviews with everyone and their mother, it's pretty clear what's going on.

I thought the same. Although, I grew up watching the Undertaker and haven't seen a single basketball game in my life, so The Last Ride had a stronger emotional connection for me even before it began.

Even Undertaker's daughter is a fan of AJ, it seems.

Really awesome finale. I thought Episodes 3 and 4 were not as good as 1 and 2, but they finished strong.
If Undertaker is really done, then man...what a career. So many great memories because of him.

After much thought and prayer, the Undertaker has decided to retire to focus on what matters most. His extremely problematic t-shirt collection.

I’m at peace. I have all I want. I ask and desire no more except happiness and health for a man who gave me so much. See you in the Hall, Mark. And if it’s next year, give him the whole two hours. Maybe they do hold a special induction ceremony for him Survivor Series weekend.

That would actually be great, and now that SSlam is in danger of not happening ontime I'm wondering if in fact this year's HOF SHOULD coincide with SurSer (1 or 2 of the old mid '90s ones did) and they announce him as an inductee on the 30th anniversary of his debut.

Not gonna lie. This documentary made me dislike Taker.
Realizing that he’s just another self important delusional old guy is a real bummer. Realizing that he’s pretty much Vince’s bitch was another bummer.
Comparing this to the Last Dance is pretty laughable to me as its harder to buy the drama of “Old guy can’t do fake match competently anymore” vs all of Jordan’s real life issues, rivalries, politics and successes. This is another example of WWE trying to emulate mainstream productions and looking terrible in comparison.

Finally got round to watching this. On episode 2 and so far I'm finding a lot of it rather depressing.
He reminds me of Mickey Rourke's The Wrestler. A man with a deep down overwhelming sadness who just cannot let go. A battered body which runs on instinct.
Really great so far though, looks like I'll be binging it all in one go.
