Am I the only one who lived most of my life thinking Gangrel was a European Champion at some point? Because that seed was in my head for the longest time. He definitely wrestled for the European title at the 1999 Royal Rumble.

It's almost feels like a deliberate wind up but everyone calling DX's crappy jeep a tank with out a single drop of sarcasm. It spoils the joke.

A personal one for me is Joey Styles being the lead announcer for MLW and calling a Homicide match in the early 2000s. I remember watching this on the old ECW timeslot on the sunshine network but never found evidence of it occurring That one definitely did happen. Styles was MLW's lead announcer for a bit in 2003.

The Hurricane beat The Rock clean then lost to Triple H the next week. Neither happened. Hurricane won via Austin help and the following week Rock destroyed Hurricane. I want this one on my tombstone. People act like Hurricane won clean with the Chokeslam. I just watched the match. Hurricane absolutely did get some offense in and looked good for a few min, but the end of the match saw Rock poised to beat him clean until Austin showed up. HHH did destroy Hurricane, but that was the night after Mania, which was a few weeks later.

I read the original post about how I could have sworn Gangrel was Euro champ and I was like yeah me too. Then I thought maybe that memory was from a PS1 game, then I scrolled down and saw your post But I'm still not sure if that was the case, could be a double Mandela Effect.

With the Gangrel thing, if it were just listed as fact, I wouldn't blink an eye. It feels right. Obviously it's not, of course. I'd almost get ahead of myself and say "well, it probably just felt like it since he was constantly competing for it" but...well, he only ever had three matches competing for it (and that includes house shows) according to wrestlingdata.com:
1. Sept 28, 1998 - RAW - 6-man match for it with champ D'Lo, Droz, Jarret, Mero and Edge) 2. Jan 24, 1999 - Rumble 99 PPV - vs. champ X-Pac 3. Oct 6, 2000 - RAW - vs. champ Regal (which, btw, was Gangel's next-to-last documented match before being released)
And that's it. Weird. It really does feel like he was involved more in that scene, but guess not.

Only tangentially related to anything, I sometimes forget that Gangrel and Rikishi trained Rusev.

To confuse things a little more, in the Rumble match, Teddy Long did actually accidentally count to three when Gangrel was pinning X-Pac at one point ( www.dailymotion.com/video/xhe7qg at the 7:30 mark). Is it possible people are remembering Gangrel pinning the champ and mixing that in as well?

For years people thought that Herb Abrams used a racial slur in an interview with Little Tokyo, even Mick Foley referenced it in his book.
But after watching the UWF episode on Wrestling With Wregret it turns out it was commentator John Talos whom made the remark on commentary and not Herb.

One I think about some times is Billy Gunn as Intercontinental Champion
There was that weird thing where he switched title feuds with Road Dogg in early 99 and Road Dogg won the IC belt while he won the Hardcore belt, but as far as I'm aware he was never IC champion

Not the same time period you're referring to, but he was IC champ once later on.

I think I remember around then is when people really started getting on him about his ability because he couldn't have a good match with Chris and almost dropped him on his head.

Mine is the famous Smackdown fist.
I was sure that they got rid of it after the draft in 2004. I was shocked when another member here told me a while ago that it was used all the way up to the HD switch in 2008.
