Didn’t they reveal him to be Sami Callahan or did I just imagine that? That was NXT's hacker, this was the most recent one that revealed that Sonya Deville was the one behind keeping Mandy and Otis apart. Though Sami was doing a similar hacker thing on IMPACT (at the same time as Smackdown’s hacker angle) with the ICU gimmick, recently feuding with Ken Shamrock.

And this is why I never care for any mystery angles WWE does. They either drop it without explanation or it ends being a huge letdown. So, there's no point in getting my hopes up for anything.

It's actually legit astounding to me. I'm trying to think of times when I've seen shit like this in other TV shows, and I can't. Oh, other TV shows will have disappointing reveals or loose plot threads sometimes. But it's just really a little shocking that a show on national TV would be so bush-league as to make a big deal hyping something and then just stop and assume the viewers don't know or care.
I don't know if "unprofessional" is the right word exactly, but it's something like that. I do not know how a real TV show could do that.

Throw that onto the pile of go nowhere storylines. WWE has almost as many of those as they do actual completed storylines at this point.

Hell entire characters disappear with no mention. Richie Cunninham's brother going to play Basketball and f***ING VANISHING without a trace is a famous one... as is like half of the cast of Family Matters vanishing without a trace regardless of their storyline importance... As for dropped Plot Points... Supergirl introduced Bizzaro Supergirl... and forgot about it back in season 1. the Suicide Squad plot in Arrow completely ceased being a thing with no resolution (cause WB gonna WB) the city of Qarth in Game of Thrones was hyped as this super important thing and Daenerys's spends like ALL of season two there... Qarth is never mentioned again after it was built up to be this big thing...

At this point I just want a Hornswaggle reveal to fit in with continuity.

I dunno the other stuff, but you're definitely right about Richie Cunningham's brother and the other sister on Family Matters. That is not someting that should happen. But this thing is even worse, because it's not an episodic show where they can't think of plots or gags for a character, so the actor leaves. It's something they set up to happen in the near future and then just don't. The nearest I can think is in Mortal Kombat Armageddon, where Nightwolf tells Liu Kang he's going to face three trials, and then there just aren't any trials.

It's something they set up to happen in the near future and then just don't. We call that process "Abramsed" after J.J.

Qarth is never mentioned again after it was built up to be this big thing... There's dropped plot points and characters who vanish, but it's on a different level with WWE. Shows will lose track of things, showrunners or major pieces of the writing staff will change and elements will get dropped, things will go one way and then go another. Hell you can even point to the "because Warner Brothers" thing with Suicide Squad in Arrow as a case of a show having to drop something because a bunch of corporate suits are idiots. But WWE, with no real meaningful change in leadership across decades, does this constantly. It's scale that I think really drives home how much WWE is operating on another level with its writing failures. Stuff doesn't just sometimes lead to nothing or get completely undermined, it does this regularly and to an exhausting extent that is absolutely without peer.

I kind of find it funny were really pissed about the hacker being completely forgotten, yet it was a retread of the GTV angle from the Attitude Era that ended in exactly the same fashion.

Pissed is a strong word, but I think at this point, people are annoyed because dropping a big storyline SHOULD be a surprise or upsetting, but it's neither with WWE in and of itself, it's business as usual.

WWE has always shown it has absolute contempt for its audience. I don't think it's ever really gotten past the fairground mentality of professional wrestling conning stupid rubes and skipping town. I think the pinnacle example of this is when their post-Russo and Ferrera head writer, Chris Kreski, used basic storyboards to keep track of angles, feuds, and character relationships... and was mocked for it. The McMahons want to be seen as more than just cheap producers of pro-wrestling, but they fail to even rise to the minimum standards of any other form of scripted programming.
