I know nothing about D&D and midnight is past my usual bed time during the work week, but I am definitely staying up for this.

They should all be in character when they do this.

Late time here in the central but I am going to catch this. Just finished the first campaign of Critical Role and am in the mood for more D&D content.

I love playing D&D (though been a looooong time since I've had the chance to play it) but I don't really get the whole explosion in people streaming it. Kind of just seems like the most boring thing in the world to watch.

Kind of just seems like the most boring thing in the world to watch. I didn’t either... Then I saw a live performance of D&D. If done well, that shit GRABS you. I’ve pretty much watched every D&D game the WrestleTalk lot have done because those are fun as hell and surprisingly emotionally investing.

I just got done bawling at the end of Critical Role: Vox Machinia and I feel for every character and their stories from the Glass Canon Podcast. Good writing and acting can create the same emotions you'd have from any book or movie. Just have to be a bit more committed when watching actual play shows.

The performance I went to had serious fan girls there and it was one of the wildest things I had seen. At the time, I thought it seemed like the most ridiculous thing going... Then I was marking out at the end of Season 1 of No Rolls Barred and I completely got it.

Honestly Dragon Friends spoiled me on D&D podcasts by having the DM and an NPC guy. Also everyone on it being really funny

Kind of just seems like the most boring thing in the world to watch. Do yourself a favor and just sit through the first few episodes of Critical Role: Vox Machina. You don't necessarily need to 'watch' per se, they offer podcast versions of the episodes you can listen to as well. critrole.com/campaign-1-podcast/I think as a fan of D&D you will appreciate how good Mercer is as a DM, and how intricate the backstories each of the main players have gone through to make it a living and breathing world. Doesn't hurt that each player is also a seasoned Voice Actor/Actress. It's a commitment, but if you can make it through the first arc (Kraghammer), you'll get addicted to it for sure. ...just don't mind Orion and his character Tiberius, he's your resident min/maxer whose playstyle clashes significantly with everyone else, and in more than occasion cheated his rolls (not fan of him if you couldn't tell).

I hope they all post pictures of drawings of their characters - thats my favorite part of character creation!

Personally, I'd start after he leaves. Pretty much the start of one of the best arcs and you don't have to deal with him trying to butt in on everything. Hell, the fact critical role has an animated series on Amazon coming up tells you how great the story was

It's on Colt's stream as well, a lot less laggy

Colt Cabana is like "I don't know how to play, here's a joke about everything."
And Orange Cassidy is actually really good at the whole thing.
