So I've been watching a lot of old Peanuts specials lately, and it got me thinking about how many minor characters there are in the franchise that deserve more love. Here's a thread for us to all celebrate these lesser remembered parts of one of the most iconic franchises of all time. Share your thoughts.

I've always been a fan of Franklin. I think he needs more love.

I've always been a fan of Franklin. I think he needs more love. That was the one time I kinda cringed. I didn't think Franklin really needed a hip hop feel to him. Then again, I didn't mind him in Flashbeagle.

5.
Did 5 ever appear in the cartoons?I remember him from the comic strip.
Had never seen the Franklin rapping clip until a few years ago. Somehow that Peanuts special was one I just never saw.

I kind of thought Franklin was fairly well-known. He is mostly a bit player, though.
Anyway, my vote goes to 5. He has a fairly amusing family/backstory, and it’s still pretty relevant today. It’s too bad he was phased out so early.
Also, honorable mention for Peggy Jean. Things were never going to work out long term with her & Brownie Charles—er, Charlie Brown. But it seems like Schultz could’ve gotten more mileage out of her transposing names gimmick. Maybe set her up with Pelt Van Linus for a while or something.

Janice Emmons. *Waits to see who is the first to get that one. Why, Charlie Brown, why? I hate that special with a passion. I've lost many people I've cared for to cancer. One of them was my mother. I haven't watched this special in a long time, and have no desire to ever watch it again. Same with Funky Winkerbean.

Technically, PJ was the little red haired girl in the Blue Sky movie. How about the girl from the Christmas strip(s) that keeps changing her name?

Technically, PJ was the little red haired girl in the Blue Sky movie. I think I’ve read that, but I didn’t think that idea was considered canon. How about the girl from the Christmas strip(s) that keeps changing her name? Yes! The one who drives Linus up the wall, but she’s so fascinating he finds her irresistible. (I’ve been there myself, son—not with someone who kept changing her name, but the rest of it. ) Amusingly, Schultz did revisit this gimmick. Not sure whether it was in the strips, but in an episode of the Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show, Rerun meets up with her little sister who also keeps changing her name. And like his big bro, he finds this girl irresistible.
