If it's a GM mode for a game, I'm scratching my head a little that they decided to use such a specifically WWE-coded term for it. They've been free enough with inside terms that I would expect them to just say "booker" instead.

Eh, GM and General Manager are pretty broad sports terms and every American League has one (which I presume is why WWE adopted it) so unless WWE trademarked it for wrestling context, it doesn’t seem that big a deal.

Yeah, plus it's a good marketing technique to use a phrase that is recognizable to people. GM/Franchise modes are always my favorites in sports games and the old Smackdown games. I for one am so frigging excited. Though it will be hilarious since Woods has been DYING for a new GM mode in a wrestling game and now there might be one for the competitor lol

They've been pretty open about developing games in the background so this could be for the BIG game coming out eventually or a smaller one.

If I had to guess, smartphone game. wouldn't mind a smartphone be a booker type game, unless it's free and I have to pay $10 to use certain wrestlers

I think they should wait on a game honestly. This to me feels like the original ECW when they grew too fast and crashed.

Their revenue is MUCH better than ECW's ever was, honestly, but even with ECW, they only got a deal because Acclaim had the engine and wanted to milk it after losing the WWF license, so I don't even know if ECW took much risk on those.

Aubrey Edwards has said that she wants to work on an AEW game. Could this be it?

Look, if we get a wrestling game that’s essentially Dynasty Mode/MyGM from NBA2K but built around wrestling...I’ll throw ALL THE MONEY AT IT

The difference between the 2 is kinda important in that the Khans literally have a f*** TON OF MONEY and they’re seeing ROI. Paul E...Paul E was broke. But he could rally the troops like no one else. Ever. And my god was he good at it too. He could have grabbed a live mic any given night in Philly and said “f*** this wrestling shit, we’re gonna go evict the governor and claim Pennsylvania as our own” and that entire arena would have marched to the capital building and not stopped until they took control of the state.

Yeah it's weird to compare AEW to Paul "borderline criminally bad at managing money" Heyman.

Sounds like a fantasy sports type game. Which makes sense since they actually keep track of records

They're just trying to cover up the pain for not registering "Wobbly Walrus" when they had the chance:
everyone knows the future of the wrestling industry belongs to whoever owns the most names of rejected Chilly Willy antagonists!

Aubrey Edwards has said that she wants to work on an AEW game. Could this be it? I mean, she's worked on games before, so it's not out of the question.

General Manager isn't even exclusive to sports. Every job I've ever been employed at had a general manager position, so I can't imagine WWE can own a trademark on that.
