Dudeâs got potential, but to be thrust into a big angle like this this early is a surprise. I'm thinking he's going to replace KOR in UE Tho it is not like HHH hasn't used big guys before they were ready and gave them shots. He did the same with Lars Sullivan against Alaister Black

Dudeâs got potential, but to be thrust into a big angle like this this early is a surprise. Think he is just there to be a new body because they look like IMO they are about to lose Dream and Gargano from the male side of the talent pool to the main roster so gotta start gettin the new guys aclimated. Fish and shitty little boots will be able to give him the preverbial rub by association if they are indeed turning heel and he is join them soon.

Here's the Updated History of Takeover with Takeover 31 ResultsAnother excellent Takeover, except for a few things which I will get to later. I loved the opening video paying tribute to the past with Capitol Wrestling and I love the look of the Capitol Wrestling Center. Damian Priest VS Johnny Gargano was awesome North American Title Match to open the show. The Velveteen Dream looked stupid with his hair like that. His match VS Kushida should have never happened. Dream shouldn't be on NXT TV until his legal situation is worked out. Kushida could have wrestled anyone else, but hopefully what happened afterwards will be the reason we will never see him again. I think itâs awesome that theyâre bringing back Halloween Havoc for NXT TV. Isaiah Scott VS Santos Escobar was awesome & a nice showcase of the Cruiserweight Division. I like Ashante Adonis getting involved to even the odds against Legado Del Fantasma. I loved the old school microphone for the introductions for the Womenâs Title Match. The Womenâs Title Match was excellent until the finish with the ref bumps & Gargano. But, I did like the 2 returns of Toni Storm & Ember Moon as Shiraiâs next challengers. Amazing match between Finn Balor & Kyle O'Reilly to close out Takeover. I am also intrigued by the closing angle. Here are the Facts & Stats for NXT Takeover 31: - This was the 3rd Takeover in a row to not have an NXT Tag Team Championship Match, the 1st ever Takeover to not have any Tag Team Match at all, the 1st Takeover since Phoenix on January 26, 2019 that Adam Cole didnât wrestle, the 1st Takeover since Toronto on August 10, 2019 that Keith Lee didnât wrestle, & the 1st Takeover of 2020 that Dakota Kai didnât wrestle, so the only wrestlers to compete on every Takeover of 2020 are Finn Balor & Johnny Gargano - Damian Priest VS Johnny Gargano was the 12th NXT North American Championship Match of 2020, the 1st since NXT on September 16, the 10th at Takeover & 4th in a row, Damian Priestâs 4th Takeover & 3rd in a row, his 2nd North American Championship Match in a row, making it the 3rd Takeover in a row that someone will be competing in 2 North American Title Matches in a row after Keith Lee (Portland on February 16 & In Your House on June 7) & Johnny Gargano (In Your House on June 7 & Takeover XXX on August 22), he is the 1st North American Champion since Adam Cole at New Orleans on April 7, 2018 & Brooklyn 4 on August 18, 2018 to win the North American Title & then defend it at back-to-back Takeovers, Priestâs 2nd North American Title Defense, so if he would have lost, he would have been the 1st ever North American Champion to lose the title in his 2nd Defense, which is still 1 more than Johnny Gargano who lost the title to The Velveteen Dream on NXT on February 20, 2019 in his 1st Defense, as of Takeover, Priestâs North American Title Reign has lasted 43 Days, which is still the 2nd Shortest Reign of All-Time after Garganoâs 25 Days (1/26/19 â 2/20/19), Johnny Garganoâs 19th Takeover, keeping him as the wrestler with the most Takeover Matches in History & his 4th in a row, his 3rd North American Title Match in a row, making him the 1st since The Velveteen Dream at New York on April 5, 2019, Takeover 25 on June 1, 2019, & Toronto on August 10, 2019 to compete in 3 consecutive North American Title Matches & his 4th Overall, tying him with The Velveteen Dream for most North American Title Matches in Takeover History, & was the 1st ever to challenge for the North American Title at 3 consecutive Takeovers, the 3rd NXT North American Championship Match to open Takeover, & the 1st since Portland on February 16, 2020, Priestâs 1st ever Takeover opener, & Garganoâs 2nd opener & 1st since Brooklyn 3 on August 19, 2017, & Priest is now the 1st ever North American Champion to win the title & then successfully defend it at back-to-back Takeovers, was Priestâs 2nd win in a row at Takeover & Garganoâs 6th straight loss - Kushida VS The Velveteen Dream was Kushidaâs Takeover debut, the Velveteen Dreamâs 12th Takeover, tying him & Kyle OâReilly with Roderick Strong in 4th Place for Most Takeover Matches of All-Time after Johnny Gargano (19), Finn Balor (14), & Tomasso Ciampa & Adam Cole (13) & 2nd in row, & the 1st time he wasnât in a Title Match since he defeated EC3 at Brooklyn 4 on August 18, 2018, & was Kushidaâs 1st win & Velveteen Dreamâs 3rd straight loss at Takeover - Isaiah Scott VS Santos Escobar was the 6th NXT Cruiserweight Championship Match of 2020, the 1st since NXT on August 26, & the 1st ever at Takeover, Isaiah Scottâs 2nd Takeover & 1st since War Games III on November 23, 2019, but 1st ever match on the main Takeover card, Santos Escobarâs Takeover debut, making him the 1st ever wrestler to make his Takeover defending the Cruiserweight Title & was the 1st Champion since Tyler Bate at Chicago on May 20, 2017 to make their Takeover debut as a defending NXT Champion, Escobarâs 2nd Cruiserweight Title Defense, so if he would have lost, he would have been the 1st Cruiserweight Champion since Neville who lost to Enzo Amore at No Mercy on September 24, 2017 to lose the title in his 2nd Defense, as of Takeover, Escobarâs Cruiserweight Title Reign has lasted 123 Days, which is the 4th Longest Reign of All-Time after Neville (196 Days, 1/29/17 â 8/14/17), Buddy Murphy (183 Days, 10/6/18 â 4/7/19), & Cedric Alexander (180 Days, 4/8/18 â 10/6/18), & was the 3rd 1-on-1 match between them, after NXT on April 29, 2020, which was won by Scott, & on NXT on August 26, 2020, which was won by Escobar, so now in their 3 matches, Scott has won 1 & Escobar has won 2, was Escobarâs 1st Takeover win, Scottâs 2nd Takeover loss in a row, & Escobar was the 1st NXT Champion since Blake & Murphy at Rival on February 11, 2015 to retain a title in their Takeover debut - Io Shirai VS Candice LeRae was the 8th NXT Womenâs Championship Match of 2020 & the 1st since Takeover XXX on August 22, the 30th at Takeover & 4th in a row, Io Shiraiâs 7th Takeover, putting her in 2nd place for most Takeover matches for a woman after Asuka & Shayna Baszler (10), & 3rd in a row, her 3rd Womenâs Championship Match in a row, making her the 1st since Shayna Baszler at Philadelphia on January 27, 2018, New Orleans on April 7, 2018, & Chicago II on June 16, 2018 to compete in 3 Womenâs Title Matches in a row at Takeover, her 5th Womenâs Title Match overall, tying her in 3rd place with Sasha Banks & Charlotte Flair for most Womenâs Title Matches at Takeover, after Asuka & Shayna Baszler (8) & Bayley (7), Shiraiâs 3rd NXT Womenâs Title Defense, so if she would have lost, she would have been the 1st Womenâs Champion since Rhea Ripley, who lost to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 36 on April 5, 2020 to lose the title in her 3rd Defense, as of Takeover, Shiraiâs Womenâs Title Reign has lasted 119 Days, which is the 9th Longest Reign of All-Time, making her the 9th Champion to be Champion over 100 Days, and if she would have lost, she would have been the 1st Womenâs Champion to lose the title in 119 Days, Candice LeRaeâs 4th Takeover & 1st since In Your House on June 7 & was the 2nd Takeover in a row after Dakota Kai where someone competed in their 1st Womenâs Title Match at Takeover, her 1st Singles Match at Takeover since she lost to Shirai at Toronto on August 10, 2019, making this the 18th match to be re-matched at a Takeover & the 1st since Johnny Gargano VS Adam Cole at New York on April 5, 2019, Takeover 25 on June 1, 2019, & Toronto on August 10, 2019, the 6th Womenâs Match to be re-matched at Takeover & 1st since Kairi Sane VS Shayna Baszler at Brooklyn 4 on August 18, 2018 & War Games II on November 17, 2018, they also wrestled on NXT on October 30, 2019, with Shirai winning both matches, so now in their 3 matches, Shirai has won 3 & LeRae has won 0, Shirai was the 1st NXT Womenâs Champion since Shayna Baszler at War Games II on November 17, 2018 & Phoenix on January 26, 2019 to retain the title at back-to-back Takeovers, & it was Shiraiâs 3rd Takeover win in a row & LeRaeâs 2nd Takeover loss in a row - Finn Balor VS Kyle OâReilly was the 9th NXT Championship Match of 2020, the 1st since NXT on September 8, the 29th at Takeover, & 4th in a row, Finn Balorâs 14th Takeover, which is the 2nd of All-Time, as Johnny Gargano competed in his 19th Takeover, & 5th in a row, he was the 2nd NXT Champion in a row after Keith Lee to defend the NXT Championship at Takeover after winning it on TV, his 5th NXT Championship Match at Takeover, tying him with Adam Cole & Johnny Gargano for most NXT Championship Matches at Takeover, & was his 1st NXT Championship Match since he lost to Samoa Joe at The End on June 8, 2016, which was his only loss at Takeover, was Finn Balorâs 1st NXT Championship Defense, so if he would have lost, he would have been the 1st NXT Champion since Johnny Gargano who lost to Adam Cole at Takeover 25 on June 1, 2019 to lose the title in his 1st Defense, as of Takeover, Balorâs Title Reign has lasted 26 Days, which is the 3rd Shortest Reign of All-Time, after Karrion Kross (4 Days, 8/22/20 â 8/26/20) & Samoa Joeâs 2nd Reign (13 Days, 11/19/16 â 12/3/16), was Kyle OâReillyâs 12th Takeover, tying him & The Velveteen Dream with Roderick Strong for 4th of All-Time after Johnny Gargano (19), Finn Balor (14), & Tommaso Ciampa & Adam Cole (13), & was his 1st Takeover since Portland on February 16, the 5th wrestler after Aleister Black, Tomasso Ciampa, Adam Cole, & Johnny Gargano to wrestle for both the NXT Tag Team & NXT Championships at Takeover, his 1st ever Singles Match at Takeover, & only his 5th Singles Match in his NXT Career (he lost to Aleister Black on August 2, 2017, lost to Pete Dunne on NXT on June 13, 2018, defeated Hanson (Ivar) on NXT on November 14, 2018, & he defeated Drake Maverick on NXT on August 26, 2020, was the 23rd NXT Championship Match to main event Takeover, & 2nd in a row, Balorâs 5th Takeover main event, tying him with Samoa Joe for 3rd most Main Events of All-Time after Johnny Gargano (9) & Tomasso Ciampa & Adam Cole (7), & his 1st Main Event since The End on June 8, 2016, OâReillyâs 4th Takeover main event, tying him with Shinsuke Nakamura, Kevin Owens, & Sami Zayn for 4th place for most Takeover main events, & his 1st since War Games on November 23, 2019, Balor was the 1st since Bobby Fish & OâReilly at Toronto on August 10, 2019 & War Games III on November 23, 2019 to go from the Takeover opener to the following Takeover main event, & was Balorâs 5th Takeover win in a row, & was OâReillyâs 7th Takeover loss in a row, which is the most consecutive losses in Takeover History - Dudeâs got potential, but to be thrust into a big angle like this this early is a surprise. He's gonna be the heavy in the new UE with Roddy and Fish. So Roddy and Fish will do the heavy lifting, that will help him out. Also, he'll be working against guys like KOR, Cole, and Finn, so it will help him out. Let that potential work with some of the best workers in the company.

Quick thoughts
â
The Baby Thunderdome is pretty cool. They did good upgrading the glorified warehouse.
Priest is a star. The Garganos have to be done in NXT. Theyâre just spinning their wheels... I canât imagine them being successful on the main roster, but itâs time to move on and sink or swim.
Escobar/Swerve was .... good. But Escobar just doesnât really do it for me in the ring. Itâs a shame because heâs otherwise a great package. That ending was rough though.
The ladies match was also good. Donât really have too much to say on the match itself. Iâm never sold on Tonight Storm. I canât think of many matches of hers Iâve enjoyed. I hear people talk her up, but then she wrestled and is... fine. And Emberâs reveal was disappointing as hell. Same Olâ Ember.
KOR and Finn was excellent. Knew it was coming but was still super sad when my guy lost. The ending with Ridge was super disappointing. I donât even dislike Ridge, but.., Really, Era vs Ridge? I need to be sold on it.

Overall I enjoyed the card, but for me it was a one match show, that being the main event as it was a dream match.
If you wanna watch I reviewed the show over on my YT channel:
