One very big question coming into the season right now
How will the pandemic affect the cap?

One very big question coming into the season right now How will the pandemic affect the cap? The cap will have a sewed-on mask, you basically wear it all around the head like Rick Steiner.

Where will the Toronto Raptors play next season? If they can't play in Toronto, I could see Seattle or Las Vegas as destinations.

Seattle is a non-starter, unless you are willing to have them play at the University of Washington, which isn't up to NBA regulation. Las Vegas may be more likely. Personally, I'd like to see Louisville or Kansas City get a crack.

But my gut says the NBA will put it in Vegas if they do it at all. For a lot of reasons.

Lame ass Buddy Hield has taken the Kings off his social bios and has been liking comments about the Sixers. Going to be an interesting first test for McNair to see what he does with him.

I don't think it will matter much as I expect 2021 to be in a bubble in diff cities NBA execs are going to fight their collective asses off to make the league look as normal as possible next season. The atrocious ratings have to hurt all around. Another season that looks like the bubble return we got is bad news for the long run.

Ratings probably only matter to the TV execs and even then, a lot of that can be blamed on competing with other sports (especially football) and running in a completely different part of the usual schedule, among other things. NBA isn't going to be sweating that too much unless negotiations for new rights deals are coming sooner than later.
Individual team owners are going to care a lot more about gate and merchandise sales, which took huge drops this year due to economic hardships on top of everything being shut down. They lucked out that they were able to get through most of the regular season before the pandemic really hit here. The bubble worked, but it also didn't have to last for an entire season + playoffs and any plan of action is going to have to be voted by the players' union as well.

One thing I want to say about the bubble:
I LOVED THE SPACE AROUND THE EDGE OF THE COURT! I felt like we saw better basketball play on the edges of the court because a dude could take a couple steps out of bounds without plowing into a bunch of people sitting a half step out of bounds. Same with under-the-hoop play. Dudes could sail through there without bashing into a bunch of cameras. Never noticed before how much everything encroaching on the court has actually hampered the game.

Congrats to the Lakers and their fans. LeBron James is just unbelievable and it's a privilege to still watch him play at this level. Really glad I got to see him play in person back in November.
Also shoutout to Adam Silver and the NBA for pulling the bubble off. Lots of skepticism going into it, including from me, but they really pulled it off. Awesome stuff.

NBA isn't going to be sweating that too much unless negotiations for new rights deals are coming sooner than later. The NBA's $24 billion television rights deal with ESPN/ABC and Turner runs out at the end of the 2024-25 season, which should give the NBA plenty of time to determine whether this year's historically-low ratings for the Finals were just a blip in an unusual season or something to be genuinely concerned about. Because ratings, while important to TV executives, also should matter to the players, because the last TV contract caused the salary cap to skyrocket and led to huge increases in player contracts in the summer of 2016. (You think anyone's giving Timofey Mozgov $64 million without TV money in their pocket?)

I'm lucky to have see both MJ and LeBron play their careers. I'm always going to be partial to MJ, but LeBron is on that level, IMO.
