Muppets, hands down. Even today it holds up surprisingly well as both a movie and an adaptation of the story. Also far and away the best adaptation of the ghosts. Ghost of Christmas Future justifiably gets a ton of respect but Christmas Past is also both kind of terrifying and hauntingly beautiful in the presentation. Then there's Michael Caine as Scrooge. Damn, I generally hate Christmas movies and I might go watch it right now. The genius of Caine's Scrooge is him playing it completely straight.

The Muppets version is my favorite. Gonzo and Rizzo are the best storytellers.

While I'd say other things like Scrooged or Muppets CC are better, I do have a lot of fondness for the 1970 musical version with Albert Finney as Scrooge.
It's the one I saw first as a kid and it remains a favourite.

The 1951 version is my favorite. There's also an early 90s one with The Flinstones that I remember really liking as a kid but I haven't seen it in years.

I saw a stage version where Simon Callow (who played Dickens himself in Doctor Who) performed it as a one man show, reading it in much in the same way that Dickens did in his lifetime. Really cool experience.

When Statler and Waldorf are imploring you to stop treating people like shit, you've made some really bad life decisions.

I still need to watch Muppet Christmas Carol. However, I did like the 2009 animated one with Jim Carrey. The Jim Carrey adaptation is the movie that made me have to 'prescreen' movies for my kids before taking them sight unseen into movie theaters. That movie was pushing the limits of the PG rating to say the least, and yes it was a faithful adaptation, but good lord: www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtWrAjtptUUThis isn't even scratching the surface. They did NOT hold back.

The Muppets, with Scrooged as a close second.

You’re all wrong because it’s Mr. Magoo. "I'm all alone in the world" is a beautifully sad song.
