If, God willing, this is the last we see of that awful Fiend gimmick, I give this match a retroactive ***** rating. Roman should have kicked him in the dick again for ******. All time dookie gimmick.

It wasn't a classic by any means; but murder, fire, and whips are some of my favorite things and that match had all three.

You got to admit though. The visual of the fiend giving orton the mandible claw while flames engulf him is pretty badass. As well as him running ablaze into an RKO. Like if I were randy I would be thinking the whole time "god i hope those flames don't jump on me."

I’m all for evil Orton. He’s such a hate-able piece of human garbage it’s great. Will just add though, Bray Wyatts character work is probably the best we have ever seen but maaaaaan do his actual matches succcccck. I'm gonna disagree. Wyatt is capable of having some good matches. Infact I'd even say last night's match was good. The one against Strowman at Summerslam was a good big man match too. As for people hoping the gimmick is dead... I don't really understand why. Wyatt has been the highlight for the past year and a half. I can only imagine how much more boring the shows would be if we just had a bunch of random "real rasslers" wrestling in their black trunks. Give me wacky shit like this any day over whatever boring vanilla feuds they want to set up. At the end of the day, it's about ratings too. As much as you might enjoy a match like WALTER vs Pete Dunne, ultimately its stuff like The Fiend getting set on fire that'll make casual people say "Wow this looks f***ing cool. Let me see what happens tomorrow"

A Theory, But unfortunately, I think Bray Wyatt is being suspended for violating the wellness policy. He looked like he was under the influence of something on RAW last monday. & this was a way to write him off TV
Noticed how they added The Firefly Inferno Match at the last minute? If he tested positive for the wellness policy last week, Then that's when the stipulation was added to get him off WWE Programming

I dunno, I thought it was cool. Then again, I'd 1000% prefer silly, fun wrestling over "bland man 30 wrestling bland man 53" so I don't really care if it's a dummy or that Bray lost a contact. Eh. We could have had an exciting Dean Malenko vs. Alex "The Pug" Porteau match instead.

Let me see what happens tomorrow" I'm a fan of both "real wrestling" and goofy stuff like this. It's pro wrestling, you don't need an explanation for them co-existing on the same show. They just do. And honestly, I feel like they balance each other out. As for Wyatt, I feel like we need to be careful in how we define what makes a match good or bad. Me personally, I have one universal rule for what makes a wrestling match good or bad, and that is, "Did it tell the story that it set out to?" And Bray's always been a very story-driven character. I don't expect 5 star mat classics, but I do expect a story, and on that front, I feel like, especially since the reinvention, he always delivers.

Legit loved the follow up tonight. Was fully expecting the ball to be dropped as usual, but they did good.

Legit loved the follow up tonight. Was fully expecting the ball to be dropped as usual, but they did good. Hopefully, they don’t rush the Fiend’s presumed new look and just tease it over the next few weeks, then do a big reveal at the Rumble.

Whether people like him or not, there has to be the respect that Bray is really trying to do something special with his characters each and every time.
I can not wait to see where this is going and how he shows up next. The segment tonight was absolutely perfect and Alexa’s delivery is really on point. Randy is the best piece of shit opponent for the Fiend to go after as well.
Just love this whole story.

They really used like the worst dummy imaginable for this.. It's nowhere near the correct proportions and I have serious doubts that a billion dollar company couldn't get something made that looked at least halfway decent...

They could have, but my guess is, with how late and haphazardly they added the stipulation, thereby necessitating a dummy, they had little to no time to have a realistic one made, so someone's grade-school aged kid stepped in to take care of it.

I think you could've saved it by not showing the dummy until it was on fire. Have the camera stay on Randy until after he drops the match and see the flames shoot up, then go VERY wide, the hard side camera, far away shot of The Fiend on fire. There's ways they could've shot around it to make it look not quite as terrible, but that would require a halfway decent director.

Credit to them for making a heel vs heel matchup work
Great way for Randy to finish off his crazy 2020 and he's getting back into the groove he had before the last 4-6 weeks of the Drew feud. Bray character work is always his best work and tho I still want them to scale him back, if you don't the best thing is to go full crazy and they have done that

A Theory, But unfortunately, I think Bray Wyatt is being suspended for violating the wellness policy. He looked like he was under the influence of something on RAW last monday. & this was a way to write him off TV Noticed how they added The Firefly Inferno Match at the last minute? If he tested positive for the wellness policy last week, Then that's when the stipulation was added to get him off WWE Programming This is a wild accusation, dude. You think they’re going to add a full on gimmick match and spend EXTRA money just to write someone off TV? Again, as I said in that thread last week - modern WWE isn’t going to let someone work under the influence - especially when it involved him jumping out a casket that was lit on fire. No way. Arn Anderson let Alicia Fox work drunk on a house show and he immediately got fired. Anyways, I look forward to Uber Fiend ripping Orton apart in a few weeks.

It’s just likely they added the stipulation to make the PPV “exciting” with a weird gimmick, to keep with the trend of Covid era PPVs.
