It’s not his receivers. It’s not his offensive line. Cam Newton is terrible. The Patriots are eliminated from the playoffs. They’re down 15 at halftime. There are literally zero reasons to continue to roll out Newton under center. He’s done. Like there’s no reason a team would ever take a flyer on him. He can’t throw, he can’t outrun anybody. He can muscle his way for a couple yards. He’s Tebow

Gilmore's probably gone, Thuney's probably gone, the McCourtys could be gone, Hightower might not come back, Edelman could retire. There's a lot of work to do.

Rock bottom for the Patriots isn't this season. It's next season. In all likelihood, the 2021 Patriots could be among the worst teams in the NFL. Given the free agents they're set the lose, and the high-priced veterans they're likely to either release or trade, next year's squad will be an extremely young, extremely inexperienced team that might be lucky to win four or five games, especially when you take into consideration the schedule they're set to play in 2021. Patriots fans need to accept that. The rebuild isn't going to be expeditious, they're not going to be back in the postseason next January as though this season was an outlier. It's going to take a little while. The Patriots aren't going to be back in the playoffs until the 2022-23 season at the absolute earliest. The focus of next week - and really, of next season - is finding out who belongs in the core of the next era of the New England Patriots. Is it Chase Winovich? Is it Kyle Dugger? Is it J.C. Jackson? Is it Josh Uche? In 2010-11, they were lucky to transition between eras of the dynasty because they had a young core with talent like Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez, Nate Solder, Sebastian Vollmer, Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo, and Devin McCourty. The objective has to be finding out who on the current roster is part of the core in 2022 and beyond.

Buffalo's relishing doing to New England what they've done to them the past 20 years

If you are going to be that way, he hasn't beaten Jacoby Brissett either. Then again, we are talking about a team sport, so let's not act like the QB's actually take the field at the same time, shall we? Mahomes fears Jacoby Let's be honest; nobody fears Jacoby unless you are a defense facing a short yardage situation. Not a lot of QBs can routinely get 5 yards on obvious QB sneaks but he does.

They're going to have at least $55 or so million to spend, (not counting any releaes/trades this summer) and what looks like at worst, the 14th/15th pick in the draft. By no means am I suggesting they're back in the AFC title game next year, but I'm also not sure the situation is as dire as you might think

Yes, this off-season there will be a lot of veterans who will find themselves fall victim to the shrinking salary cap, but we won’t see any All-Pro players cut loose like that. Teams will take the hit for players like that or trade them to a team that will. I have to wonder if Belichick put in a waiver claim for Haskins. If any coach has any reason to think that he could force him to grow the f*** up, I’d say the Hoodie would the one. That would be a first big step in the right direction, I think.
