And they both lost? Like, I get that we're being analytical, but...they literally didn't win anything. Yeah... Honestly, Since like at least 2015, even the "wait until everyone else is eliminated and the guy thinks he's won to slide back in" has lost in the Royal Rumble. It's not that they win, necessarily, it's that they can still enter and eliminate others who are fighting "honorably" or however you want to frame it, and instead of their eliminations feeling like the result of the unfair scheming of a conniving heel, they feel more like "Well, he/she was an idiot for fighting fair, there's no rules here so why did they even put themselves into a position to be eliminated?" To steal from Observer Radio, it makes those guys look like geeks.

Just institute a "You can only stall outside the ring for X amount of time or else you forefit" rule. It can be longer than a ten count so you still can have these kinds of moments in the Rumble, but seriously, stop making the cowardly heels look smarter than the people we're supposed to cheer for.

The Rumble trope that always amuses me are old wrestlers returning for a nostalgia pop.
Think about it, the winner of the Rumble gets a title shot at WrestleMania, the biggest spot at the most important show of the year. And you're going to bring in some old guy who hasn't wrestled in years and are sometimes hilariously out of shape. It'll be like if the NBA reunited the 2008 Celtics and gave them the 6 seed in the playoffs.

Right, make it clear why there are even refs outside the ring during the match. Make it a 20 count, or leave it to referee's discretion for situations where two wrestlers are just brawling or something, e.g. clearly not trying to avoid being in the ring, but their fighting just happens to spill out to the floor, only throwing them out when you get a Piper/Bad News type brawl where they flat-out leave the area or whatever. You could still sometimes have someone pull a Lawler and hide in a way that somehow causes the refs to totally miss them, but at least then it's the heel genuinely pulling off a sneaky maneuver to bend or break the rules.

Yeah, you could fine and suspend people but you've had people beat the shit out of Vince for years, backstage assaults laying out people, dudes getting set on fire and thrown off of the Titantron, and jack shit ever happened to them. That's...not really true at all. Vince beatings would have consequences all the time, he spent years trying to get revenge on Austin, he feuded with Hogan, Gowen, Lashley, Cena, HHH, his own daughter, his own son etc. Backstage assaults, back in the day anyway, would lead to matches or suspensions, Droz was accused of attempted murder for throwing Hawk off the titantron etc. Most of that was because, well, they needed to hook people week by week so of course that stuff had to have a continuation or else they were going to switch to Nitro. The problem for at least the last decade is that, unless you intentionally fight against the authority, nothing really has much consequences week by week. Authority figures mostly have no backbone against this stuff and only do it through social media where most of their audience watching won't see it. And most of that is because they're getting paid whatever they do, to the point the audience barely matters so why do that? What we're saying, or I am anyway, is that actions need to lead to stuff, the Rumble match is a good place to do that for feuds and such but not to the point where, as others have said, it makes your good guys look like goobers for not doing what the bad guys are doing because the bad guys don't get punished for it.

The problem is, they want to explicitly leave it open to doing the thing where someone everyone thought was eliminated rushes back and is in contention again. They just also want an audience that's too stupid to realize that this very obviously means no one should ever get in the ring. This year even had an extra problem: they did this with Orton, making it extremely obvious he'd be running back to the ring right as the match was ending, which completely spoiled the ending of the entire match about 1/4 of the way through. Of course he's gonna go back to attack Edge. But again, they just want an audience too stupid to think about that.

An old guy wins one match and he gets a WM title match?, if anything more old guys should enter! I actually wouldn't mind a nostalgia surprise winner one year just for that storyline.

I love them too. I'm sure plenty of people do which is why WWE does it. I'm just saying that it doesn't make much sense if you think about it logically.

They need to reinstate the Macho King rule of 91. You don't enter the ring by the time the next entrant comes out, you're gone. That's not what the rule was. The rule was you had to make your entrance, not enter the ring. Macho King didn't show up at all.
