you can also trade your pokemon from your GBA versions, so it's all good in the hood there too. except you can't trade the pokemon from the gameboy versions, which makes me mad because that's where most of my pokemon are!

I only played the original red and blue. Took one look at gold and silver and said goodbye to the franchise.

The only Pokemon game I ever played...I can't even remember which one it was. We had confinscated a GameBoy from a kid at the school I worked at right out of high school. I worked in the front office, it was just me in there, so I played for a few minutes. Other than that, when I worked for Toys R Us, one Christmas, I won the display model Gameboy they and the copy of Pokemon Pinball that was in it. Pretty fun game. But then, it's hard to fudge up pinball.

I started out with Pokemon Blue. I had a Game Boy Color (colored blue) and my link cable. I spent a ton of time leveling them up, and I payed a kid on the playground to get me Mew. Lapra, Mew, Mewtwo, Charizard, Vileplume, and one other I forget was my party. And with that I was the king of the playground. Then I dropped my GBC and to Nintendo's credit the GBC still worked and was hardly scratched. However it erased my Pokemon Blue files and would never save again.
I got Pokemon Yellow and played up to Viridian City Gym, and then I used the GB connecting thing for Pokemon Stadium to play on the N64 with my pokemon... and somehow deleted the file.
Then I got Gold and came to the realization that other than a few unnecessary features they just added new pokemon, and I slowly lost interest in that. But now I really want to get Diamond and Pearl. It's Pokemon Wifi, what more do I have to say?

what made gold and silver great was (And it would be it's downfall half a decade later) it's Clock system that had events happen at certain times of the day. However, i doubt that alot of people thought 5 or 6 years after purchasing their copies that the Clock batteries inside would die out, and the only way to fix it would be to either send it to Nintendo to get it fixed, or Manually replace the battery.

I have pretty much played Red, Yellow, Gold, Ruby and Emerald.
And as soon as they are released, I'm playing Diamond/Pearl. Dunno which one yet...or I might just wait for the Emerald version of it to come out.

The only thing I don't like about Pokemon is, they are running out of ideas for them.....
In Diamond and Pearl....well, let's just say, the Pokemon on Diamond's box art is the master of all time, and the Pokemon on Pearl's box art is the master of all space.
Yes, the two main legendary Pokemon in Diamond & Pearl control time and space, respectfully.
What is even worse is, in Japan, during a special event for Diamond/Pearl(which just recently came out there by this time), Nintendo gave a few lucky people(like they gave people in the US Mew and Celebi) a Pokemon, that can only be summed up as.........
THE POKEMON GOD!!!!!
How can you come up with anything stronger than the god of all Pokemon?

I played Sapphire, but that was about the extent of it, and I never even bothered beating that. I'm same as Spanky here, I got fed up with new pokemon after a while.

The problem with the franchise is that there are always certain ones a single player can never get, because seriously, what older players are going to go to some other state to attend special events?
As soon as someone comes up with GS/AR codes to make the missing types show up in the game as wild, I'll probably get a copy of Diamond.

I'll still play my copies of Red and Gold once in a while.
I remember my favorite team in Gold: Ho-Oh, Golem, Blastoise, Pidgeot, Charizard and ...ok, whatever the final evolution of the grass type you could pick at the start of the game was.
